SoonerBillsFan Posted February 8 Posted February 8 And Yes... I fully expect to see Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader memes lol. Sean McDermott was the perfect coach and Beane the perfect GM to turn this team around. He was VERY much needed at that time. Reality is when you have a once in a generation (or two) QB like Josh Allen, combined with other talent that we have had, and can't get over the hump in 9 years... it just wasnt going to happen. So Ill say it and mean it, thank you Coach for what you did, what you tried to do, and God Bless you and your family going forward. He deserves that. Right now, should be a VERY exciting time for Bills fans. I like the Brady pick for HC, although I had hoped to possibly interview Kubiak. Why? He knows Josh, Josh knows him and they respect each other, and for this team, there is nothing more important than that. No he hasn't been a HC, but neither had Sean when he started. What Joe Brady has already done is assemble one heck of a coaching staff. This might be the most overall talented staff we have had. The one thing I would like to see is some sort of veteran / Former HC brought in just to assist him in getting used to being a HC and assist on game day. The roster... We have Josh Allen 🙂 With Chains on us and Brady, we still finished between 2nd and 4th overall (depending on who you check with) on Offense. Add one of Deebo Samuel (WSH), and Alec Pierce (IND) and a good draft pick and this offense is trending toward #1 real fast. My real concern right now isn't WR, its OL where we could lose 2 starters. Protecting Josh and opening holes for Cook, Davis, Johnson is paramount. Defense....Oh Baby! FINALLY an attacking Defense applying multiple fronts. I now the secondary is in good shape with Valai. Its time to shore up the front 7...or 8..or 3... Who the heck knows lol. But seriously, Having an ILB and an OLB coach is going to be great. We just need to put in the right talent and I feel we are closer than not to having it. Will it be 100% this year? No, sorry it just wont. Will it make mistakes? Yes. But I just feel it, we are about to break through guys and with Allen as QB with how he plays in the playoffs... Ill end with this, my post isn't meant to be a Rah rah, but dang it... I see to many of my Bills Mafia fam hurting, depressed, angry, skeptical and honestly afraid of what might be. While I get as a Bills fan, Skepticism, Pessimism and waiting for the other shoe to drop is our norm. But I really feel we are about to turn this thing around, and I want to see more of you give it a chance. Back it, support it, be ok if it stumbles some. I know many hate Beane, but allegedly the chains are off him too, maybe grant him a little grace as our GM and maybe he start hitting on FA's and Draft picks. I am dang excited about FA, draft, OTA's and the start of this next season. I feel we are in a new and better era. I hope some of you come to feel that way too. 18 2 5 6 6 Quote

Fresh start with a new defense. Kinda happy we likey don't see the same faces brought back year after year. This is the most exciting FA and draft in years, maybe even since the year we knew we were drafting a QB and we got Josh. Just gotta have faith... And since nobody gave you one yet...here ya go Edited February 8 by BuffaloBillyG 4 1 1 Quote

We can go BPA, minus QB and RB, and improve this team especially on Defense. Im looking forward to FA and the draft moreso than the last couple of years. 5 1 Quote

strive_for_five_guy Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I’ll agree with the OC that adding Carmichael to the mix with Brady gives us the most coaching talent we’ve had on the offensive side of the ball. As for Leonhard, I’m optimistic his change in approach will be better for the defense, although this is his first time as DC at the pro level, so it’s still TBD in my mind as to whether our coaching talent has improved on that side of the ball. 2 Quote

I have no problem with people getting excited. But personally I’m openly skeptical on their chances to win a Super Bowl next. I just think there’s a bunch of false narratives out there that aren’t realistic. One month ago many of us thought wanted Brady to be fired and thought Beane did a lousy job. Now after one press conference people think Brady will be the second coming of Ben Johnson and Beane will magically morph into Howie Roseman, simply because Sean McDermott is gone. That’s magical thinking IMO. Does it mean they can’t get better? Not at all. But I think the sample size is large enough that these two are who they are. Jim Leonhard on the other hand been successful everywhere he has coached. I think there’s reason to be optimism there. Probably is he inherited players drafted to play a different system and there’s only so much he can do from a roster standpoint. Which leads me back to Beane. This is an expensive roster with 2 major holes at WR1 and DE1. It’s going to be incredible hard to fill both spots…among concerns on the roster. Again, if you are excited good for you - I still have concerns as of now. 2 hours ago, SoonerBillsFan said: No. I dont want to sound like a jerk, but the loss was a blessing in disguise. Yep That’s a healthy dose of blind optimism 1 3 1 1 Quote

I’ll say this - talk is cheap. We’ve had coaches who won press conferences, and GM’s who won the offseason, and teams that were great in the regular season. All that matters is winning the Super Bowl with Josh Allen in his prime. I’m at the point where I’m Buddy Nix. Enough talk. Enough hype. Enough hope. “show me the freaking baby”. 3 1 1 1 Quote
