I know we have many needs.  But I've seen multiple mocks with Downs falling down to 11th/12th spot.  Would he be worth jumping up for?  He's a safety that can play multiple positions, and has a high football IQ.

Caleb Downs is the best safety prospect that I’ve maybe ever seen. He’s also the best player in this draft. I can’t fathom a world where you pay 2 firsts for a safety.

No. I would call for Beane’s immediate dismissal should he take a safety first.

Especially if he expended the capital needed to jump up that far for a safety.

Do you think Pegula would follow your instructions?

I will put this caveat out there. If somehow he fell to a range where you could use a player, that may not fit, to move up, I’d listen. If you could trade your pick and Oliver, for example, I could support it. I don’t want Oliver out but if they don’t like his fit, it’ll open up a lot of space in future seasons. You could replace him with an all-pro S. I think Downs might be an all-pro as a rookie. You could have Downs and Bishop as Hyde and Poyer on steroids.

Again, I don’t think that’s realistic. Downs won’t fall out of the top 10.

I agree with the sentiment, at the same time it'll be bonkers if he falls past #10....

even if he got to like 13th, the board would have to be hand picked in a way that all WRs, DL, and maybe even LB are gone. If were going up there is a 99.9% chance someone infinitely higher impact for us is still available.

Then leverage that against what we could get in trade market for that same package and it just makes no sense lol

Anywho, 0% chance it happens. Everyone and their mother knows Cinci would take him at 10, makes me think 50% chance someone will grab him before

The last great safety to come out like him was Ramsey, who fell to 5th.

he was converted to corner to justify the value.

downs is going to be an all pro safety.  However, you can’t spend multiple firsts to add him when you have Bishop/Hairston/Benford already allocated.  Sit and move up slightly for a WR

It'd cost our 1st & 2nd plus probably next year's 1st to move up to 11-12ish. There's no player worth that unless it's a QB, or you have a championship team missing 1 piece. We're missing a couple pieces.

It would be pretty disappointing to have a safety drafted high again...

Or, on the bright side, you could see it as content and entertainment, because I can guarantee it would  be entertaining around here.   :)

Donte Whitner memories, no thanks.

I’m hoping he doesn’t end up in KC.

I fear the Chiefs will get David Bailey.
