RyanC883 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 well, if we lose Leonhard after winning the SB, we can get Schwartz next year? Another thought: perhaps Garrett wants a trade now? His next two-year cap numbers are very low. 8 1 2 Quote
Virgil Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Are assistant's rights only retained for one year, while HC's are retained indefinitely? Quote

thenorthremembers Posted February 6 Posted February 6 (edited) Part of me thinks Assistants need to start putting language into their contracts that their contracts only remain valid if the Head Coach is retained. Another part of me thinks Jim Schwartz shouldnt be allowed to throw a fit if he doesnt get the promotion he wants. Pretty conflicted here. Edited February 6 by thenorthremembers 1 2 Quote

Búfalo Blanco Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Well, it is the Browns of course.. But at the same time, Schwartz quite obviously does not have the temperament to be an NFL HC again. Quote
Man with No Name Posted February 6 Posted February 6 doesn't feel right for the browns not to let him go. but im not certain what kind of precedent has been set for these situations 1 Quote

If Tomlin wants to coach in 10 years (he's done but it's an example) the Steelers still hold his rights? I would assume the same applies to Schwartz. 1 Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted February 6 Posted February 6 This is so petty by the Browns. It is standard practice to let the assistants out of their deals with the HC is fired. They should have just done that, as opposed to forcing him to either stay or sit out. 3 2 1 Quote

TheFunPolice Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Garrett will never get to play in games that mean anything. Such a sad waste of a HOF level career. 2 3 Quote

It was his choice to sign an extension after falsely saying he prioritizes winning. Don’t feel too sorry for him. 8 8 3 Quote
