Loyalty is a lost virtue, and people are always looking for short-term gains and avoiding having to push through a hard situation. I don't know about the "way of the world", but what happened with Hardegree is actually the opposite of "looking for short term gains". He basically stuck with Adam Gase moving to 2 different OC jobs and then 2 different HC jobs. When Gase left football, he got hired by the Pats and then stuck with Josh McDaniels moving to a HC job. ie, personal loyalty seems strong. 1 Quote

Basically he went wherever Gase went from 2014 to 2020. Gase moved from OC in Denver to OC in Chicago when Fox was fired in Denver for being successful but not successful enough and he took Gase with him as OC. Gase was then hired as HC of the Dolphins, then fired and hired as HC of the Jets. Hardegree went with him 2x. Gase hasn't worked as a coach in the NFL since the Jets fired him in 2020, so Hardegree moved to the Patriots then followed Josh McDaniels to the Raiders. Then McDaniels took a year off, and Hardegree took a job with Brian Callahan in Tennessee. The connection seems to be they were both Offensive Assistants with Denver in 2014. 28 minutes ago, Beck Water said: I don't know about the "way of the world", but what happened with Hardegree is actually the opposite of "looking for short term gains". Thanks for your great research that sheds light on the nature of Hardegree's employment. It provides much needed perspective to many posters who like to jump to conclusions. Kudos to you. Quote

I do hope he works out, but I guess we will see. Quote

A knowledgable fan like yourself can name 2-3... most people who consider themselves knowledgable fans couldn't name 2. The point is, we have posters in this topic who aren't impressed with the hire because they've never heard of him before... Just incredible. ? Curry was a QB coach for us last season and has been interviewed by the Ravens and Denver for the same. Saying he "isn't currently a QB coach" sounds a little hair-splitting Yeah I grant your point that most people can't name 2, I could only because I knew the name of the Bills QB coach last season and knew that 2 former Bills QBs were working as QB coaches, I admired McCown for sticking with it 15 years and finally having a great season for the NYJ, so I've been keeping tabs on him wondering what he'd do after hanging up his cleats at age 40. I have no idea if Hardegree is a good QB coach or not Edited February 5 by Beck Water Quote

MrEpsYtown Posted February 5 Posted February 5 I'd love to hear what Peyton Manning thinks of the guy. He's a Vol, they have history, Cutcliffe connection, plus Bo was on staff in Denver with Manning. 2 Quote

Manning did it with Gase, and Rodgers with Hackett. 1 Quote
