As a wet behind the ears callow yute, I had a passing fancy to be a disc jockey.  My neighbour was like a second father to me, and he advised against it, saying that they paid with a pickaxe.  Lousy hours, about the only good thing was the promotional items a radio host might  receive.

Where I worked, the DJ had to spin to last call, also had his pick of the last call babes. 😖

Its not about one bills live, its about losing the broadcasting of the games, which is by far their biggest audiences.

Eh, WGR was fine without those rights for years. I’m sure this isn’t ideal, but I don’t think it’s the end of the world for them.

It was a different world prior to 2012 with streaming.  The parent company recently had to file Chap 11 back in 2024.  Things aren't good there.

who the heck listens to the "radio" anymore?

From a google seacrh, a lot, if true.

Approximately 82% to 88% of Americans aged 12 and older listen to terrestrial AM/FM radio on a weekly basis, according to data from 2022-2025. Despite the rise of digital media, radio remains a dominant, stable, and highly-consumed platform, reaching more people weekly than other media types.

Folks ain’t gonna go on the internet and stream Chris Browns cheerleading show. That much I do know

Cmon now, you’re not going to load an app so you can listen to Maddie Glab’s soothing voice? 😂

That’s strange.

this is from a D&C article:

On Bills’ game broadcasts, Brown is a Bills employee and Guelli thinks he’s one of the best in the business so he will remain. Analyst Eric Wood and sideline reporter Sal Capaccio are not team employees, so their status is unknown. Capaccio, in particular, is a WGR employee so it’s unknown if that would impact his role on the broadcasts.

If they kept Gina from Delaware off they’d probably have more listeners. She’s insufferable

I honest to God feel so uncomfortable when she is on.  Like I am physically cringing so much it hurts

I understand this is a place to voice opinions about certain callers, on air radio voices, etc.  My larger concern is there are 10s of 1000s of out of town Bills or Sabres fans across the country.  I’m one of them so it used to be Radio.com, and the. Audacy.  Now what the hell are we going to do?  I listen to Audacy as much as I listen to NFLR.

Some of you can’t stand these guys, and understand the whole Jeremy WR thing, or whatever, but I’m not listening to local Tampa radio hosts as they are precipitously worse.  I do t like the young guys when Sal doesn't do the Extra Point as they are not good at all.  I almost never listen to One Bills Live and I deplore the afternoon guys.  I enjoy the morning shows especially when Sal runs it.

I can always watch the games in season on my wife was kind to find me a Chinese website that plays all the live sports from around the world.  They typically have 7 or so options for example the Bills game, and when one kicks off temporarily, you can switch back to another.  It’s not perfect,  it there is no lag.

Its the daily on air content is my concern.

I just think back when I first moved to Tampa in 1/91 (5 days before the SB), my Dad was a 44 year executive for the BN and had the Bills magazine Tuesday evenings before the internet.  It was nicest gesture of affection he could’ve ever shared with me.  I’d read it Tuesday night and then call my dad to talk about the Bills.  It’s one way we stayed close and when I was homesick for Buffalo.  I never regretted going to graduate and post grad school, it it was tough for a 21 yr old Buffalo kid to leave Buffalo.  It’s where I met my first wife, raised all three of our children, had a very nice career, but Buffalo never left my heart.  My irrational side of me is concerned with change.

All of those years with Radio.com and then Audacy kept me connected to home.  I’ll always love where I was raised and have helped my boys love the Bills.  I’m very suspicious of this Pegula Sports controlling all content.  You think One Bills Live is bad at always taking the Bills side, and having no oppositional views, it will be 100 times worse moving forward.

I do.  When you are away from Buffalo- it’s good to hear Bills and Sabres talk

Gina made my favorite phone call to WGR ever!

I haven't been in the area for 20+ years so these days I only get the pre/post game when I am in town for a game.

However when I still lived in the Buffalo area I did enjoy Jim Brinson in the morning. Seems like the newer WGR generation of talk show hosts aren't even entertaining in an ironic sense. More often it sounds like all they do is annoy people.

Don't worry. If anything WGR will become all-negative, all-the-time with the Bills and Sabres, just like the old Coach Dickerson days. Those were fun.

This is about 2 moved shows available on the Bills site and MSG, plus the Bills are producing their own radio broadcast for games which will be available on an undetermined stations and it sounds like their site too.

Wgr will fill those gaps with more Bills and Sabres talk.
