Stumbled onto this on YouTube.  Interesting in several ways:

1. Josh A. looks like a kid

2. Josh R. talks too much, as if he's the brains in the room

3. Lamar mumbles

4. Three of them aren't with the team that drafted them, and one is out of football

5. Sam is the first one to make a Superbowl.  He's my second-favorite one in the group.

I still remember my draft rankings for these guys. Still a very Solid class overall.

My pre draft rankings:

1. Darnold

2. Mayfield

3a. Rosen

3b. Jackson

4. Allen

I was wrong and glad it worked out for Buffalo. I would flip between Jackson and Rosen almost daily.

What was your pre draft rank?

83 , 04, and 2018 QB classes are the greatest ever

I think 2012 deserves honorable mention with #1 Andrew Luck, #8 Ryan Tannehill, #75 Russell Wilson, #102 Kirk Cousins plus super-sub Nick Foles.  Most "good QB draft classes" only yield 1 or 2 QBs of any consequence.

It will be interesting to see how the 2024 QB class shakes out with its 6 first rounders: #1 Caleb Williams, #2 Jayden Daniels, #3 Drake Maye, #8 Michael Penix, #10 JJ McCarthy, #12 Bo Nix.

You neglected to mention #2 RG3 and #88 Superbowl Champion Nick Foles.

I was Allen all the way. I swear to God. Rankings:

Allen

Darnold

Mayfield

Rudolph

i wanted nothing to do with Rosen. He was too smug and didn’t seem like a leader of men to me. And Jackson didn’t interest me much either.

That Josh A guy, is the best regular season QB and the best playoff QB of this class.  And he somehow does not have a SB appearance.

I did add Foles just not his number in the draft.  I was conflicted about RG3.  He was great as a rookie (I think he was OROY) but then got hurt and never came back to play as well again.  As we've seen with the QBs in the 2018 class, sometimes success depends on the team that drafts them.  Sometimes it doesn't matter.  Did RG3's lack of later success stem from his injury, from poor coaching, his own shortcomings?

Just goes to show that football is the ultimate team sport. Darnold isn't close to Allen in terms of talent, yet he will win (most likely) a Super Bowl this Sunday while Allen hasn't even gotten to one yet. There is a lot of pressure on Beane this offseason to improve this team. With McDermott gone everyone in WNY is looking at Beane to improve the roster around Allen.

Many wont believe this but Allen was my #1 starting at the end of his JR year.   I knew we needed a QB and just his physical attributes made me want him.

For me it was...

Allen

Mayfield (duh)

Rosen

Jackson

Rosen.  I couldn't stand Rosen. Just a T*** And that pre draft thing where he hung out with Rogers made me hate him more.  Freaking hot tub in the dorm room BS as well.

That's true of course about being a team sport.  We all know a couple defensive stops and the Bills are likely in one.   But when people look at legacy... it's discussed in terms of Tom Brady, Mahomes, Manning, Brees, etc.. taking their teams to the Super Bowl and being the main reason.  So Darnold will be included in that mix.

My bad, you did have Foles.

The RG3 thing was weird, why did the Redskins trade up to get him (giving up three firsts and a second) and then turn around and take Cousins in the fourth (when they might have tried to address the other problems they were creating by trading away so many firsts and seconds)?

I didn’t know who Josh Allen was until his pro day. He was a stud and I knew then he needed to be a Bill. We got so lucky to get him.

The Redskins might have taken Cousins due to a previous 1st Round bust QB that was outperformed by a later round pick earlier in their history. See Heath Shuler vs Gus Frerotte. Or they felt that Cousins was good value and might have been able to trade him later in order to get back a higher pick in a future draft as we saw the Jaguars due in 1995 when they drafted Rob Johnson in the 4th Round and already had traded for Mark Brunell a few days earlier.

I wanted Rosen because I just went off what the national media wa saying about Josh and that he was going to be a huge bust.

I always got the Sheldon from the big bang theory vibe from Rosen... kind of a self absorbed dbag.... but there were plenty of people that wanted to hear Rosen after Josh when we picked... you just dont know with QBs especially...

Rosen was drafted into a terrible situation.  The Cards' HC, Steve Wilks, was so bad he lasted just the 2018 season, and Rosen was traded to Miami at least in part because  the new coaching regime under Kliff Kingsbury had #1 overall pick, Kyler Murray.  It's possible that if Rosen had been drafted by a better team, he might have developed into a better NFL QB.
