BillsFan4 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 (edited) I’m good with this hire. This is probably about the best realistic hire we could have hoped for. Highly respected, experienced, bright offensive mind with tons of experience under Sean Payton as his right hand man for a decade +. I’m surprised he left Payton’s staff. I thought the hire would be Joe Lombardi. I know many wanted a Shanahan/McVay guy but I don’t know how realistic that ever was for the OC position (I think that type of hire is more likely for a position coach role or senior assistant, if it’s even made at all). Brady was always going to want someone with experience in HIS offensive system. He needs a guy he can rely on to take over his OC duties. Edited January 30 by BillsFan4 8 3 3 Quote
Bray Wyatt Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Someone with lots of experience to draw from, I like it 7 1 2 Quote

Kirby Jackson Posted January 30 Posted January 30 (edited) Well, we wanted experience. He is also a guy that has a long history as an OC that didn’t call plays. He can run the offense but Joe will call the plays. This is a good fit. Pulling Sean Payton’s right hand man makes sense. Edited January 30 by Kirby Jackson 11 29 1 Quote
DapperCam Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Brady is very green, so the more experience on the staff, the better. 7 17 3 Quote

Roundybout Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I’m good with that. The Saints were a terror with him running the offense with Brees. 4 2 Quote
BuffaloBillyG Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Smart hire. Guy with a lot of experience that can set up the game plans. Help Joe out on that side of the ball. Another Sean Payton disciple. Yeah, this is a good fit. 5 1 Quote
MrEpsYtown Posted January 30 Posted January 30 No brainer. A couple of people and I mentioned this as a possibility the other day. Very experienced guy for Brady to lean on. 5 Quote
Kirby Jackson Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I had concern that he would promote his buddy (can’t remember his name). With Joe now performing more “ceo duties” it’s nice to have Carmichael and his experience overseeing that room. 4 5 Quote
JohnBonhamRocks Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Don’t know much about him, but go ahead and pick that Payton tree clean 2 1 Quote

I like this better. 1 Quote
Sierra Foothills Posted January 30 Posted January 30 The Broncos fired OC Joe Lombardi and I'm assuming Davis Webb will get that job so I guess Carmichael was passed over. 15 years as Saints non-play calling OC under Payton. 5 1 Quote
Gregg Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Don't know much about him to be honest. Lots of experience and comes for Payton coaching tree. Sounds like a good hire. 1 Quote
Virgil Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I’ve always been curious as to what a non-play calling OC/DC does on game day. And are they essentially a substitute teacher throughout the week? 3 9 1 Quote
BuffaloBillsGospel2014 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 A solid addition, the experience will help both Allen and Brady. Quote
The Jokeman Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Now add Davis Webb as QB coach/passing game coordinator (assuming Curry goes to Denver as OC). 4 1 Quote

If he’s the guy I’m thinking of he called plays for 1 season under Dennis Allen. If so, it’s good he won’t be calling plays cuz, in addition to limited talent on the team, he was kinda ass at it. 1 Quote
