BuffaloBillyG Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I know how this thread is going to go over. I am fully prepared for the nasty emojis and snide comments. That said.... Keon Coleman does not appear to be going anywhere. Today he has gotten full support from his new HC, who fell on his sword for him today, and from Allen. Like many here, I would have been done with him. Cut bait. Not even thought twice. But, maybe there was something more at play here. We all know Admiral Sean saying players need to earn it during the week. And we all know Keon would not exactly give effort at points during the games. I believe, we could conclude he would mimick that effort during practice. Being he's not a full effort guy, we saw him as a healthy scratch many times. And Joe's comments would tell me that one issue could be he was in Sean's doghouse. From Brady's aspect, Keon isn't a guy that can get open much on his own. He needs special plays scripted to get him open, but once he has the ball in his hands he can stack the RAC. But how could Brady implement plays to get Keon open when he couldn't even be sure he would be allowed to play? Maybe I'm reading more into it than needs be and he's still not even here next year. But I think Coleman is one guy that could benefit from the HC change. Brady will do everything to make sure he's successful. I'm actually kind of excited to see what Joe Brady has in mind for him. I'll give Coleman a bit of a clean slate, but he still has some side eye reserved. 10 1 2 1 7 Quote
Bruffalo Posted January 29 Posted January 29 (edited) ^ Coleman after this week. Who doesn't love a comeback story? I wouldn't count on it, but they might as well try and get some returns out of their asset. I don't think cutting him outright is a good move. Edited January 29 by Bruffalo 3 7 1 1 Quote
SoonerBillsFan Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Look this entire time its up to Coleman. COLEMAN is the one that has hampered his own career and got himself in trouble. Even if he reaches full potential, we still need a couple impact guys. Definitely one that DC's have to gameplan for. And for the love of God get some dang speed at WR 6 8 Quote
NickelCity Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Honestly, this was absolutely necessary damage control (done well) by Joe and Josh. That doesn't mean what they're saying is untrue, but it 1000% needed to be said. We cannot look like a franchise that throws players under the bus. (By the owner no less!) 15 3 1 Quote
James Can Cook Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Would still be nice for him to develop into a #2 receiver, the pieces are there. 4 2 1 Quote
ALLinALLEN Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Sure, but step one is showing up to meetings on time. The on-field stuff is a different story. 3 2 Quote
Goin Breakdown Posted January 29 Posted January 29 One of the issues with Coleman is they aren't using him correctly. He's not an outside receiver. 8 6 Quote
WhitewalkerInPhilly Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I'll start off and be honest: I was deeply disappointed by Keon this season. But I saw enough from his rookie game that he has some stuff, but something emphatically went wrong. He's a second round pick. The team gets nothing for cutting him at this point except for a roster spot. It's going to be up to Keon to make that worth it. I think he has the talent to do it, the question is if Brady can get it out of him consistently. 1 Quote
Virgil Posted January 29 Posted January 29 We heard all this last offseason. I’ll believe it when I see it 5 8 1 9 Quote

But hey, I do remember when I was young and working. Yeah, I messed up a bunch but when a supervisor was on my arse about it it made me care a whole lot less about things like getting to work on time. I'm just saying, he seems like a kid that could benefit from a fresh slate, which is what it looks like he's getting. 1 Quote
Thrivefourfive Posted January 29 Posted January 29 He’ll be gone for the right price. Need to build him up for potential suitors. 2 1 Quote
Generic_Bills_Fan Posted January 29 Posted January 29 He kinda had to say this tbh I wouldn’t judge Brady on this at all. Coleman has 0 trade value and is still on a rookie deal 1 Quote
scuba guy Posted January 29 Posted January 29 This sounds like a broken record. Well at least a broken clock is right twice a day Quote
harmonkillebrew Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Oh oh. I'm all for resurrecting Keon, but this sounds too much like "we don't need another WR, we have great options on the roster already" Josh needs someone he can trust to be open when its needed most 2 1 Quote

I would be intrigued at effectively using him as a TE in formations. This team should still have an active run game, James Cook just led the league in rushing yards so hell yes sign me up for coming out in 11 personel and then functionally making it 12, with the option to motion him to one spot or the other. 1 Quote
Simon Posted January 29 Posted January 29 The only way he's going to be OK is if a coach can get him to understand the fact that he should never stop moving his feet. 1 2 1 Quote
Mr. WEO Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Right! with a new guy running the team he might... ...oh wait. Quote
