BillsPride12 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 I know most of the posters in here don't live in WNY right now but most at least have some WNY Roots. What was the mall you went to when you were growing up? There were a lot of great ones in the WNY area back in the day when malls were thriving. Summit Park Mall was my go to...Leon's pizza, original cookie factory, aladdin's castle. Many fond memories 2 Quote

Wacka Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Como Mall was only a mile away. Mc D's, a video arcade, Cavages Records, movies and later T-Birds bar. Entire mall is still standing but now is a business park. The Erie County Social Services occupies what was Hengerer's. 1 Quote
Roundybout Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Eastern Hills Mall for me. If I was “good” at the dentist, we went to Mrs. Fields for a cookie after. 2 1 Quote

Augie Posted January 28 Posted January 28 We’d ride our bikes to the Boulevard Mall, where one of my friends bought a cat at the pet store and took it home to surprise his mother. My mother would have locked me out of the house if I brought a cat home. She proceeded to claim she was allergic to cats until I was almost 30, when she came clean and said she just hates them. A few years later we would ride our bikes to Eastern Hills Mall, where we could inhale the air in Spencers Gifts and marvel at the black lights on the posters. 2 1 Quote

Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 I remember when Cheektowaga's Truway Mall was just Truway Plaza. My mother took special pleasure in waiting for the most miserable day of winter to schlep her three kids from store to store. Then have the audacity to complain about it. None of us asked to go! RichStadiumGuy Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Malls weren't invented yet when I was a kid. 2 1 Quote

Wacka Posted January 28 Posted January 28 (edited) Thruway Plaza had the large illuminated "Thruway" sign on a tower at the corner of Harlem and Walden. Can't remember if it rotated or not. The Cheektowaga Volunteer fire depts would put on an exhibition behind it where Planet Fitness is andWalmart was during fire prevention week (1st week of October). Would show how they put out a fire, show the then new jaws of life and extend the snorkels up high. Edited January 28 by Wacka Quote
