Inigo Montoya Posted January 28 Posted January 28 (edited) 1. Find quality OC and DC candidates to help Brady; Brady is going to need some help in his rookie season as HC. 2. Re-sign Edwards, McGovern, Van Demark, and Anderson; When it comes to the roster, first and foremost, they need to protect 17. This is also the O-line that helped Cook to the rushing title. Edwards and McGovern are going to get a payday. I hope Beane can find a way to swing both contracts. Van Demark and Anderson are restricted free agents and shouldn't break the bank. We need quality depth on the O-line. 3. Re-sign Shaq Thompson; Outperformed contract, thumper and tone setter, inexpensive no-brainer 4. Re-sign Trubisky; He showed that he is one of the better backups in the league. Josh is a beast but eventually the odds will catch up to him. We need a quality backup to steal a game or two if needed. 5. Find a receiving weapon for Josh; Trade or free agent, Beane needs to make a splash. This is the year he pushes his chips in the middle of the table. I expect a move like he made for Diggs. If that means giving up a 1st rounder, I'm ok with that. 6. Hit on a draft pick; Number five above could make this one harder. Beane has made 56 draft selections and only two of them have been named All-Pro, Josh and Cooks. (Not counting Ray Davis as KR) Beane is great at finding midround talent who contribute in a meaningful way like Benford, Shakir, and Spencer Brown, but the Bills need another player who moves the dial. I don't care if it's on offense or defense, the roster needs another difference maker from this draft who opposing teams need to worry about. Obviously, Beane needs to make some cuts to the roster to free up money to make the above things happen, the Bills are not flush with cap space. Where those cuts should happen is a whole other discussion. I think Beane will be inclined to put more on the cap space credit card this season which may make some of the above more affordable in the short term. mushypeaches Posted January 28 Posted January 28 I think that we should let both McGovern and Edwards go. We have plenty of OL depth that we've been developing and it's time for them to step in rather than paying the older vets. Plus, Torrence is going to be eligible for his 2nd contract and he's much more important to keep long term. 1 2 Quote

Ethan in Cleveland Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Edwards and/or McGovern can go. They have guys on the roster now that can take their spots. I would not overpay for either of them. Agree bringing back Thompson and moving Bernard to outside should be done. Obviously will need to see what new DC wants to do. Milano on a one year deal with a 2nd void year makes sense. As much as we want a WR and they need one, the bigger issue is an edge rusher. Bills have not had a dominant pass rusher since Mario Williams. That is the highest priority for me. Will be interesting to see what happens with White. I suspect he played himself into one more lucrative contract and with Hairston playing good enough they can't afford to bring back White. If they do not get a pass rusher in FA, then In the draft I would go Edge, WR, Edge, MLB, S, nickel, PK, P. If an OT that was really good fell I would not be opposed to drafting Dawkins long term replacement and playing him at OG for a year or two. No way I'm extending Torrence. He is too inconsistent I want Knox back hopefully on a lower salary. He's one of my favorite players and Allen's best friend. Hopefully Knox realizes how good he has it here and accepts a lower salary. I'd cut Bass and bring back Prater or draft a new kicker. I think they save about $3M in cap space if they cut him. I'd also get the best punter in the draft on day 3 In FA, I would sign a couple veterans for the secondary - one safety and one boundary CB. I think Rapp is still under contract and if he came back as a backup that would be OK. Good bye DQ, Epenesa, Phillips, and Hamlin. Let Carter and Jackson battle for roster spots. 2 Quote
gonzo1105 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect both McGovern and Edwards back . I can see one or the other. They need to find a guy who’s been good but injured or a backup like when they signed those two. I recommended Ben Bartch from the 49ers. Spent 4 years with the Jags, been with the 49ers the last couple. Still only 27. In limited snaps he has looked pretty good and shouldn’t command a big contract 1 Quote
SCBills Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Keep McGovern and let Edwards walk. I’m keeping C, RG, RT together because (see below) Agree on bringing back Anderson and RVD. We have too many other needs to be drafting a bunch of OL this year. Cut Knox and/or bring him back on a team friendly contract. This may be controversial but if I’m Beane, I have two trade chips to revamp the roster… Dion Dawkins and Ed Oliver. IF there’s a chance to swing for a Maxx Crosby, Myles Garrett, Justin Jefferson.. they are available to be involved in the trade or moved to recoup draft picks needed to make a big trade. If we get Leonhard, I’m not even sure where Oliver fits. And I love Dion and he’s still an upper tier LT, but some of his comments lately, along with his play style, ehh.. for the right move, I’d be willing to see what we have out there in RVD/Grable or move Brown to LT and then figure out RT. 1 2 Quote

He's looked pretty good in limited time. 1 Quote

I think finding a premier pass rusher has to be on this list more than keeping Van Den Mark who to me was not that great this season and we have younger OTs on the roster to replace him. Quote

But he may cost more of the two. Agree overall we have young depth on the line. May not sign Vandermark either, but would sign Anderson. Assuming sign one of two would still have Anderson, VPG, Grable, and Lundt with one of them starting. Can draft or sign someone too Quote
