SoonerBillsFan Posted January 27 Posted January 27 (edited) (*Edit/notes* Too many are just reading the title, which I modified, and pretty much ignoring most of this post. Please read through all of it before going full blast. If you still disagree or hate it, so be it.) I would love to hear from those that interviewed what they were asked and what their responses were. Moreso how Terry and Beane acted when they gave their responses. I have to believe they said the WR corp needed help, that this and that change needed to happen and T&B didn't like it. So in comes Brady, and give him credit he knew EXACTLY what to say. "Yes Brandon we do need some WR help, but Not to the extent most are saying. I mean I was able to get DJ Moore and Robbie Anderson 1000 yards each in Carolina in 2020. Sure a couple "tweaks" and we will be fine, look at where our offense has ranked the last 2 years." And then it gets better! He comes with " We all know I was told to slow things down and not fully open up the offense because Sean wanted 'complementary football'. " To top it all off " you know I don't mean to talk Ill of Sean, but lets be honest... how many times has Josh come off the field with a lead and the defense not hold. Again, the team was built HIS way...not OUR WAY (see that is so smart to throw that in there... I bet T&B got all warm and fuzzy at that). We need a new Defensive system, bigger guys, more attacking so I can open up the offense". "And Josh Trusts me, I trust him. He has has what 4 different coordinators in his 8 years? Guys like Tom Brady never had that, He and I can build this together" Come on folks, you know he knew EXACTLY what to say to get this gig. All he had to do is be a yes man and appeal to Terry and Brandon's egos and the job was his. So here we are, its done and we have him for 5 years. As I stated in the Title, this is going to work great, or its going to be a biblical Crap show that is going to destroy Allen's legacy AND Allen agreed to it. All this reporting he wasn't in on the final decision was BS. If not, you will hear about it through back channels soon enough. I will say this, IF The Brady was held back and governed down by Sean, and IF he agrees and pushes for a couple better WR's, And IF he opens up the offense and IF he hires the right DC... We are right there folks. Lets be honest, as much as it pains us to be, we are close. We all agree a little better blocking, a little better play calling and a little better talent at WR and we can have the #1 offense. Im trying to be realistic and Fair and I think that is. Defense, HE MUST nail the DC choice, we have to scheme much better and for the love of God KILL THE BIG NICKLE BULL ****. Give me an attacking 4-3 with another Big DT, big LB's and better corner play. We nail that, and we are improved. But it also comes down to Beane. Here is his chance to shine and get all the stink off of him. If he can start by cleaning up this roster, getting rid of the old return folks Sean always wants, nail the draft, GET SOME WR IN HERE, and upgrade the Defense...That is a lot of IF's. But what choice do we have? I feel most of us are upset this morning and we have a right to be. So many promising folks interviewed ( I do want to know why we didn't wait on Kubiak) and we all had our choices and it didn't happen. I'm personally bummed, but I refuse to quit. I am a Buffalo Bills fan, I have weathered 4 straight Superbowl losses while living in essentially Cowboy country and dealing with those Assclowns even today. I survived the Drought and I will make it through this. We are a family folks, and I don't like what I have seen from the family this last week. Too much fighting, back stabbing, and flat out hatred, and that's not us. So I will ask this and tell me to piss off if you want, but I say we need to band together like we always have. I ask that although we don't like it, the Die has been cast and Brady is our HC and we need to support him, and Brandon Beane. Its hard to do, hell its hard to type but dang it, its our way. They know how upset the fanbase has been, and further ripping them isn't going to help. We need to get behind them and support them like we have always done. And we need to start supporting each other better as well. I have never met most of you, and I know I piss some off @Simon in particular, but I say this sincerely, I love you all. You are my Bills family. Do good, be good, God bless #GO BILLS Edited January 27 by SoonerBillsFan 5 7 1 3 1 4 1 Quote
Kirby Jackson Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I keep saying it but it sure feels like this was driven by Josh, for better or worse. I never bought that nonsense that Terry saw guys sad and was like, “we need to fire the HC.” It’s much more likely that Josh said, “enough is enough.” They pulled the trigger. Clearly they felt similarly. They then went through the process with Josh in on every interview. They landed at Josh’s OC. That’s not some weird coincidence. I am not saying that it is right or wrong but it sure feels to me like that’s how this played out. Josh asked and Josh got what he wanted. 3 1 5 Quote

BullBuchanan Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Josh was complicit in this, so if it destroys his legacy, it's what he deserves. Terry Pegula is 74 years old. We could be in a situation where we're looking for a new owner any given day over the next few years. At this point, it's starting to look like Josh's best chance to get a chip is a Manning/Broncos style situation at the end of his career. I don't see it happening with more Beane drafts, Pegula-meddling, and continuity on the coaching staff. 1 3 1 1 1 Quote

Empowering one player over 53 is a bad idea. Look what's happened to Aaron Rodgers, LeBron James, etc. 4 2 Quote
zow2 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 All the coaching hires were going to come with some big risks. We can only hope Brady has a burning desire to be the best and prove all these naysayers wrong. 3 2 Quote

He better deliver when the lights are brightest. This hire and what happens from here on out will impact his legacy one way or another. 3 Quote

I wonder if this doesn't actually calm him down and allows him to focus more? He knows he can just go play and score as much or as often as he needs now. I figure he knew exactly what to say, so in some ways a yes man. "Yes Terry it was mainly Sean and him locking me down and his crappy defense" "Yes Brandon, we do need more WR help but not as much as some think" Make sense? 1 Quote
TheBrownBear Posted January 27 Posted January 27 (edited) There's a lot I agree with there. Not sure on the yes man stuff, but I'm guessing that a lot of that is how Brady pitched it to Beane/Pegs. I can't imagine Josh pushing for Brady if he thought he'd spend the rest of his career throwing it backwards to Shakir 10 times per game. I expect a big move or two to upgrade the WR room. I’d imagine that he now has much more confidence that the defense will hold up in the biggest moments. It may pull back “hero mode” a little. At the same time, he’s going to want to prove himself right. I suspect next year may be his best. The focus you mentioned should be at an all-time high. 2 Quote

You don't think any other candidate knows how to read the room/interview? This "yes man"/he knew how to answer crap, is making every other candidate look like an idiot. Basic job interviewing skills, the advantages Brady had was: 1. His resume/offensive production 2. In the building/people already know him and how he leads 3. Josh was likely a big supporter Your opinion of course, so up to you ---but its illogical to think that any other interview candidate doesnt know how to answer questions in a manner that would be the most advantageous for them to get the job. 1 1 Quote

The media has already turned on Allen, so if he can't win a superbowl in the next 5 years, it very much taints his legacy. Personally, I think we break through Quote
KentuckyBillsFan Posted January 27 Posted January 27 This hire reeks of Brandon Beane to me 1 4 Quote
Sojourner Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Just now, US Egg said: Brady’s been talked up for a reason as a prospective HC, there’s no break in continuity. The goal next season is the SB, there’d be a caveat on next season we’re it anyone else and Allen isn’t toiling away for a season or more. He’s surely happy about that. There had better be a break in continuity of the staff on defense. Get rid of them all. 1 2 Quote
