Simple question here. If you replace McDermott with Vrabel this season , is the outcome different?

Second scenario..If you swap NE and Buffalos head coaches for 2025, what is the outcome?

I think it’s pretty clear that NE is in the SB in large part to Vrabels’ focus on the details and not making mistakes. Buffalo likely goes 15-2 at worst with Vrabel at head coach.

Does NE even sniff the Super Bowl with McDermott?

Defense wins Championships.  It always gets you through some games when the O is sputtering.  We'd be Super Bowling right now.

The game plan yesterday was simple. Dolnt make any mistakes and wait for Denver to gift you the game. It worked perfectly. This same game plan inserted for Buffalo gets them the win.

The patriots wouldn't have made the Super Bowl with McDermott.

The Bills wouldn't have made the Super Bowl with Vrabel, we don't have the players, which of course is the fault of the HC not the GM. 😉

I am 100% positive that the refs would have someone screwed us out of a win and that the Cheats or Chiefs would have been forced in somehow.

Is the outcome different?  Hell no.  Refs will still make calls to prevent this team from going anywhere.  Best players, coaches, it wouldn't make a difference.

I've been a strong Mcdermott supporter thus far, however its hard to argue this.

Even Sean Payton telling the refs to watch the overhead view on that drake maye tush push was brilliant (That view clearly showed he was short). Watching Vrabel in the ear of the refs on the fumble by Stidham.   There is no doubt Mcdermott would of just thrown the flag and stood there stoic waiting for refs to decide.  Mcdermott does kinda have that victim mentality.

One outcome would be I would have watched far less Bills games because I can't tolerate that oaf's face

“Oaf” is the absolute perfect choice of words.

Who knows but one thing is very clear IMO, it was time to move on from McDermott. His failure or unwillingness to change his defensive scheme was his downfall. He could have easily brought someone in with proven DC experience to run the D but he refused. Instead he kept running it back with the same results.  Didn’t matter the players or the caliber of the opponents as the D was still gonna easily give up points and falter in critical moments. It’s stunning the amount of players who had minimal impacts on the Bills D but go on to contribute elsewhere with better stats.

Watching any on the playoff games and it was obvious our D was the worst out of all of them.  It was his defensive scheme time and time again.

At the end of the day it’s more than disappointing as candidly, the Bills should have been to three SB by now….13 secs season, last year and this year.

Makes me sick thinking about it!

Wed have been the 1 seed, we'd have crushed the chargers and Houston St home, dome teams flying east and north to Buffalo in Jan?  SlaughterHouse games.  We'd have beaten Denver (with a back up QB?) by multiple scores, and we'd have an exciting game vs the hawks who we'd best in the back of Josh Allen being Josh Allen in the playoffs.

Some of you posters need to understand EPA and other advanced stats.  Some ESPN moron can scream about who they feel lost the game, but the numbers don't lie.  Allen had an off day vs Denver, and still produced .14 EPA per drop back and over +9 for the game.  A strong coach with a good plan doesn't have him bending over backwards to make up for his chicken ish coach every game, and he likely does even better.

The bills are favorites in like 95% of games because they are the better team, ass coaching is what has us watching other teams in the chip every year.

The result is I'm still stranded outside in the freezing cold with my nards staple-gunned to a tree because that's what's gonna happen if I have to hear anymore about that big stupid oaf.

He could not have fielded “his” defense in Buffalo this year .  This team was built to run the high shell modified prevent Sean so loved. Does not compute.

Vrabel took what Mayo left behind, and completely turned it around.  He also found two rookie starters on offense and one on defense.

Vrable not afraid to play rookies on teams either.

It took getting two 50/50 calls on the road in the same game to beat Denver starting a backup qb.  The bills haven’t gotten any 50/50 calls in the playoffs in like 7 years lol so it’s tough to tell

Don't know, but he'd still have that very punchable Fred Flintstone face of his.

Yeah, his macho “I’m a man” act still be silly, but winning make it bearable.
