I have serious doubts that Beane will find the right guy to coach this team. Time will tell, i suppose........i can't predict the future, but i feel that if we didn't at least make a change somewhere then the FO was just laughing at the fans, knowing that no matter the product on the field, we would all still buy tickets to the games and spend our hard earned money on merchandise. I don't know who our next HC will be, but i feel a confidence that at least the FO is at least trying to go in the right direction. We all knew that it couldn't keep going the way it was going, so change was needed. I don't fear change, i welcome it. 1 Quote

Obviously, he will run this offseason with FA and the draft but after that should he remain the GM or step down and hire someone else to handle the day-to-day GM duties and just focus on being the President of Football Ops. I hope he steps down as GM. He has had to many misses in the early rounds, and we are paying the price for it with not a lot of elite level talent on this roster. Quote

I think Beane will eventually hand the GM reigns off to someone else. I have no problem with him being in that role at this time, however, he seems more of a used car salesman, so i think President of Football Operations is where he should stay........this type of guy shouldn't be in a GM role. 1 1 Quote

We still have the best player in the NFL and he will carry us. But it doesn't last forever. Beane needs to reload quickly and the new coach just needs to be able to take one extra step Exactly. How can anyone be confident with so many unknowns in play? Yes, Allen alone will get you to the playoffs (he would have gotten even the Raiders and Jets to the playoffs), but so what? We've seen that movie every year in the McDermott era. I mean, I'm hopeful, but if you mean confident that they'll suddenly go to the Super Bowl, no, I'm not at all confident. Ask me again when they hire a new coach and we see if Beane has had an epiphany about the WIDE RECEIVER position. Until then, I'm probably less confident in the team, given that we learned that the owner is a fool and the GM thinks the roster is perfectly fine the way it is. Quote

harmonkillebrew Posted January 27 Posted January 27 No. Increasingly not confident in Beane/pegula to make the right decisions. Quote
SoTier Posted January 27 Posted January 27 (edited) Of course I'm confident for the Bills future. As a Bills fan for more than 60 years, I've seen more than my share of hopeless situations. The current Bills are not going to implode because the owner fired the HC. Contrary to some fools who judge Pegula by his public speaking, Terry is a great owner. He's a Bills fans, so he wants the Bills to win more than he wants to increase his profit from the team. I was a McDermott supporter until his last loss, which was even more crushing than 13 seconds, so I understand why Pegula fired McDermott, and I support it. The Bills need a big change, but they don't need a tear-down, so Pegula kept Beane. It's much harder to find a GM who can build a winning franchise than it is to find a HC to win a Super Bowl. Remember, even Barry Switzer won a Super Bowl. Terry Pegula doesn't interfere with the team. He knows his limitations (maybe he's learned his limitations with hockey?), so he hires good people and lets them do their jobs. The only time he's fired major figures involved with the Bills was when he fired Russ Brandon for his personal conduct and now McDermott. In both cases, they were both direct reports, so he was the only one who could fire them. A number of posters here hate Brandon Beane, but the Bills could do much, much worse. Beane is a good GM. He knows the current players' strengths and weaknesses and has a clear view of where the team is lacking. He's also learned some hard lessons about chasing a Super Bowl victory, and how the best plans can be derailed by injuries or personality conflicts. Also contrary to popular memes, the Bills have a solid roster behind Josh Allen. Their OL, RBs, and TEs are top notch. Shakir is excellent. A WR1 can make the WR room respectable -- and maybe more. There are solid pieces on the defense, but that unit will probably be revamped with the coaching change. Hopefully the new DC will institute a traditional 4-3, so that they can use most of the current defensive starters unless/until they can upgrade for more size and speed. I just thought that if McDummy went, Beane would follow him out the door. I'm worried that it's not enough change at One Bills Drive. Quote
Sweats Posted January 27 Author Posted January 27 Okay, hearing the news just now for our new HC..........i've lost confidence. 1 1 Quote
TheFunPolice Posted January 27 Posted January 27 No confidence at all. This move makes no sense when he was already here anyway. Quote
MJS Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Not confident at all. This was one of the worst hires I could have imagined. Prove me wrong, Brady. Quote

I called it that Brady would be the next Bills HC...........and you want to know how i knew it?!? Think of the most Billsy thing that could happen and then think of even worse than that and you get Brady as HC. 1 Quote
TheFunPolice Posted January 27 Posted January 27 For the first time in a long time I'm genuinely depressed about the Bills. At least before you knew we would win 12-13 games and once the tournament starts we've been right there. Quote
Búfalo Blanco Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Not after today's news... Is Ralph Wilson still pulling strings at One Bills Drive?! Quote
