Sweats Posted January 26 Posted January 26 It's been a very tumultuous couple of weeks. We got knocked out of the postseason again, McD was fired, Beane promoted, Pegs interview, HC interviews, NE going on to the SB, etc. so without going into more of the same countless drivel of the past couple of weeks........are you confident for the future of the Bills? Ole Sweats is confident that we will get it right this time.........i have no doubt in this belief. 4 1 3 1 1 1 2 Quote
Low Positive Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I guess. But the uncertainty is unsettling. 4 2 Quote

Greg S Posted January 26 Posted January 26 There is really no way to answer this. We will find out as time goes on. I am curious to see if Beane stays on as GM. He will run the draft and FA this upcoming off season but after that will he hire someone to replace him as GM and just remain as President of Football Ops. 2 Quote
stlbills13 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Confident? Idk if I am ever confident in life lol. Hopeful? Definitely. In all seriousness, I really don't know. We still have the best player in the NFL and he will carry us. But it doesn't last forever. Beane needs to reload quickly and the new coach just needs to be able to take one extra step Quote
Kirby Jackson Posted January 26 Posted January 26 (edited) I’m more confident than I’ve been since 13 seconds. I didn’t believe McDermott could get them over the top. I hoped but didn’t trust him to do it. Obviously I would have made this move much sooner. After watching yesterday’s games I’m further emboldened in that stance. That Broncos team and that Patriots team stink. Your defense got gashed by a horrendous offense in the biggest moment. Your defense always got gashed in the biggest moment because you play not to lose. Give me any of the candidates that we are discussing and things will head in the right direction. We've been at the floor for 6 years. Address the needs on the roster and bring a different approach. Attack and you’ll win championships. The Bills FINALLY admitted that it wasn’t happening by doing the same thing over. The future is bright and things are looking up!! Edited January 26 by Kirby Jackson 8 1 6 2 5 Quote
Gugny Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I’ve been at this Bills fandom thing for 36 years now. No. No, I am not confident. Normally, with a QB of Josh’s caliber, I’d call myself crazy for not being optimistic. But that Pegula/Beane presser really put any feelings of confidence at bay. That was a shitshow. And it appears that the organization is, too. Hopefully Josh can somehow overcome that and get us one. But I’m not confident that he can. 3 5 Quote
frostbitmic Posted January 26 Posted January 26 No, I don't have faith in Beane and think he'll hire Daboll ... Which would mean another coaching search in 28 or 29. 2 1 Quote
davefan66 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 (edited) I am less confident the team is as close to the Super Bowl as we think. Watching the Seahawks offense and defense made me realize we may not be as good as we think. Offensively we are a few WR’s away. Defense…need to be faster and a d line that can rush 4 with impact. Is it all because of coaching? Some of it probably is and they need to nail this. Edited January 26 by davefan66 2 Quote
DisplacedBillsFan Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Confident we’re back on the coaching carousel with multiple 8 and 9 win seasons in our immediate future. 1 1 1 Quote

MrEpsYtown Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Unleash and support Josh along with a defensive overhaul and we are fine. Change is needed 2 1 1 Quote
BillsVet Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I am absolutely confident that the next HC will know this franchise runs through Josh and that personnel, scheme, and play-calling has to support that. I am absolutely confident that the next defensive staff put on the field a better scheme compared to what we've seen. Next season the angst-ridden fans will look back and wonder why McD was here as long as he was. The future's bright. 8 1 3 1 2 Quote

Those teams are terrible and both beat the Bills. That Broncos team scored 33 points against them. Yes, I know Stidham played yesterday but he and Nix aren’t that different. Look at how that Broncos offense performed against playoff teams all year. Now look how it did against Sean’s defense. You can’t win when your coach plays not to lose. He had a loser mentality and they ultimately lost because of it. You hit the nail on the head. Whoever comes here will do so knowing that you play through Josh. He’s not a caretaker of your trash philosophy. Build up around him and unleash him. Attack on defense as well. Take it to teams. I’m still thrilled about the change even if it was years too late. 9 1 4 2 1 Quote

We don't know how much influence McDermott has had over player selection in free agency and the draft. Still, Beane has had the last word. Where is the dominant pass rush to put pressure on opposing QBs? Where was the #1 WR boundary guy? Beane had a shot at Waddle, and the Dolphins wanted a 2026 1st and all Beane would offer was a 2027 first. Every offseason, I read in this forum about how the roster lacks elite talent on both sides of the ball, and the defensive players are older. So, I don't get it. Whomever they hire as HC has to hire an OC & DC, and those need to be good coaches with good schemes that fit the players already on the roster, or it is a rebuild. What we do know is that the man hired is probably a really good coordinator, but will that translate to a good HC to not only get this team to a SB but to win it? 2 1 Quote
Captain_Quint Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Im confident in the unknown at this point. McD was a huge part of the solution 9 years ago, but as the expectations changed, he was a big part of the problem. Too staunch on his support of mediocre players that shouldn't be on an NFL roster. Too staunch in his belief that the roster needs to be filled with players who buy in to his process and share the same beliefs. I hope this shake up wakes Josh up a little as well. We will need him to get an edge this year to avoid a setback year. He is the undisputed leader and I'd like to see him take the reigns a little more now that McDs voice won't be there. Quote
