gotme365 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I think Chris Shula should get real consideration for being the next coach. I know most people want an offensive guy but I think he’s the best overall choice. He’s coached the Rams to a top 10 defense this year with solid but not elite talent. He’s also coached every position on the defense under multiple coordinator’s. Chris is known for his adaptability, and flexible schemes that adjust to his players strengths. He’s also good at connecting with players. Not to mention it’s in his blood. He would obviously need to bring in a strong offensive coordinator, but with his connections around the league, I’m sure that wouldn’t be a problem. https://www.therams.com/news/digest-instruct-adapt-rams-dc-chris-shula-took-from-mentors-raheem-morris-brandon-staley-giff-smith-wade-phillips-creating-unique-defensive-structure 1 1 1 1 Quote
gonzo1105 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 He's actually my # 2 choice behind Klint Kubiak but I totally understand why most of the fans here want an offensive guy to make Josh comfortable with the same offense. 1 Quote
MikePJ76 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 The game tomorrow is going to be really fun. kubiak’s offense vs shula’s defense. 4 1 Quote
LetJamesCook Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I get what you’re saying but I do think it needs to be an offensive guy brought in if for nothing more than when they need to get a new offensive coordinator, there will be no more ridiculous threads about Josh needing someone to hold him accountable and Josh will only want to hire one of his “buddies” 2 Quote
Billsflyer12 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Josh getting a new OC and offense every couple of years has to stop. Must be offensive coach. 3 1 1 Quote

zow2 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 It’s going to be a HC with an offensive background. Even the media “NFL insiders” agree on that. But this offense has been as productive as any for several years. If this team finally gets over the hump i think the biggest improvement will be on the defensive side. 1 Quote

Best Williams Available Posted January 25 Posted January 25 It has to be an offensive guy. If everyone is pissed that the GM hasn’t given the QB weapons, the team has also lacked consistency for the QB at OC. Getting an offensive guy in here cures that ill until Josh leaves or retires. You have to go all in with JA17 from here on out. Quote
MJS Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I'm not against defensive hires for head coach, but I think we need a change of pace. Go with the offensive coach. 1 Quote

The Bears had first and goal at the 4 and they turned it over on downs ! 1 Quote
BlueRed Posted January 25 Posted January 25 If the defensive head coach actually translates to a great defense I think you have to consider it. I’d love to see Josh on a team that has a Texans-type number 1 defense (you know, one that gets stops, turnovers and negative plays). That would be awesome! 2 1 1 Quote
Dinoman Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I’m offense or bust. bring in a proven DC who has been a HC and likely won’t be again. Quote

I think it's also important to mention he managed to get really good production from the second cheapest defense in the league. He's not propped up by stars. He does it with scheme and play calling. My top choice, but any of the "Big 3" from the Rams would make me happy. In a perfect world we get 2 of them with a Shula/Scheelhaase combo. Quote

Big Turk Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I don't want a defensive coach that requires us to hire a new OC every few years when ours get poached. The league is designed for offenses to thrive, and it's hard to do that when you keep having to learn a new system every few years. 1 Quote
