If beane is unsure and waiting for someone to tell him he probably isn’t suited for the job. You don't have the foggiest idea whether or not any of that is even remotely true. 55 minutes ago, Beck Water said: The thing about fire - yeah, we've seen Rivers be a helluva competitor on the football field. I would never question his fire as a player. But to my understanding, coaching requires a very different kind of fire - a passion for minutiae as it were, even with a quality assistant taking the load off, an ability to handle administrative grind capably as well as grind the details of game plans and schedules No idea whether he has "it", but guessing from afar he seems like a guy who hates to lose and has some of that OCD gene that most good coaches do. 2 1 1 Quote

He explained that the Steelers had strict criteria for hiring a coach (historically), I.e. they knew what they wanted. this interview process is completely ridiculous, the bills have ZERO idea what they want. If beane is unsure and waiting for someone to tell him he probably isn’t suited for the job. I’m okay keeping beane as president but not as gm. He needs to hire a coach AND gm. Bringing in a variety of candidates is taking advantage of being able to talk in depth with a variety of football minds on how they assess the team and what they would do to make it better. Every candidate will have done that assessment and be prepared to have the discussion. It also provides first hand familiarity with some of the best football coaches/minds in the league if there may be an opportunity to add to staff in another position or in the future. It is the opposite of 'completely ridiculous' 1 Quote

It is the opposite of 'completely ridiculous' I can grasp their reasoning but it shows a lack of plan. Teams that have a candidate in mind go and get the candidate. They don’t interview a bunch of different candidates to figure out what they need, they go and get someone that fits their plan. again, this Isn’t MY thinking, it’s what herm Edward’s said. 1 2 Quote

Or he could be Jeff Saturday or one of the other many players with no real coaching experience who gets extra effort out of their players for a few weeks and then fizzle when things settle into place in midseason. I wouldn't be against it, just because it fits the pattern of Quiet Technocrat --> Loud Inspirational Leader (and vice versa) that we see so often in coaching changes. (By the way, Hailee Steinfeld somehow not Oscar nominated for her role in a film that got nominated more times than any other in history? Yeah, she wasn't that good in it. But I found it a ponderous bore in general, so there.) Edited January 24 by The Frankish Reich 1 Quote
