If the Browns could interview Condalezza Rice a few years back...why not. Let's get her in for an interview.

Pretty sure she would demand getting her husband some WRs.

That's just what we need, a HC nursing her baby on the sidelines during a critical drive.

She still wouldn't leave dane Jackson out on an island coming off the bench

“It looks like Coach Steinfeld is heading into the blue tent Tony. Must be feeding time for Josh Junior.”

”You know what that means, time for Assistant Coach Bobby Boucher to throw in some trick plays between getting his players some of that high quality H2O.”

In all seriousness, y'all do know that a large number of nursing mothers work full time starting when the kiddo is 6 or 12 weeks old, and most don't have their babies onsite.  Right?

How are they bringing anyone in? People act like Philip Rivers is not a hall of fame qb lol

The thing that surprised me about it, is that Rivers has never coached, ever, at any level.  Being a HOF player and being a coach, Not Same Skills.

Rivers maybe better than these coaches that could never hack it in the NFL as a player.

Double check that

I think he's been the HC there since 2021.

I sit corrected.  But 4 years coaching a Catholic HS isn't exactly a coaching track for the big leagues.  It doesn't show fire in the belly to do whatever is needed to become a great coach, much less that he's already on the cusp of that.

Doesn't say he lacks it, but he hasn't shown it.

I mean, he could be, sure.  But I think most people who have done both say that coaching at a high level and playing at a high level are not the same set of skills.

I'm certainly not advocating for it; the idea of him suddenly becoming an NFL HC next week is comically absurd.

I do think he's probably going to end up in the league in some capacity eventually, probably sooner rather than later. I don't "love" the idea of him becoming the Bills QB coach but I don't know enough about his attention to detail or potential for success in that position to have a cow about it if he does.

As for the question re: fire, I would be really hesitant to suggest Rivers lacks it. We've seen him go full psychopath on the field many times, going back all the way to his days at NC St. He doesn't strike me as a guy who is comfortable with being comfortable, or allowing those around him to be.

Rivers as a QB coach would be interesting.

The thing about fire - yeah, we've seen Rivers be a helluva competitor on the football field.  I would never question his fire as a player.

But to my understanding, coaching requires a very different kind of fire - a passion for minutiae as it were, even with a quality assistant taking the load off, an ability to handle administrative grind capably as well as grind the details of game plans and schedules

It's part of what I mean when I say to my understanding a successful coach and a successful player to some extent require different qualities.

I listened to a radio interview with Herm Edwards a few weeks ago. He explained that the Steelers had strict criteria for hiring a coach (historically), I.e. they knew what they wanted.

this interview process is completely ridiculous, the bills have ZERO idea what they want. If beane is unsure and waiting for someone to tell him he probably isn’t suited for the job.

I’m okay keeping beane as president but not as gm. He needs to hire a coach AND gm.

How have you determined that they have “no idea what they want”? Have you sat in on high level meetings with Bills brass?

Because they have brought in people to interview? Why wouldn't you want to interview a bunch of candidates?
