TheWei44 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Heart said yes but head said no (playing on the road + injuries = longshot chance to go all the way). 1 Quote
JimmyNoodles Posted January 23 Posted January 23 After the Jags, I really thought we had a 50/50 chance. The competition on the AFC side was weak even though we suck on the road. Schedule set the Bills up this year for the 1 seed but we screwed the pooch. Quote
GerstAusGosheim Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Never thought it was our year, but once Mahomes, Burrow and Jackson were out, I felt there was no excuse not to at least get to the Super Bowl with the reigning MVP and current rushing leader. Quote
Charles Romes Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I allowed myself to believe after the Jags win. I thought we could push the Broncos around. It’s gut-wrenching because we did push them around, but somehow lost. Quote
Governor Posted January 23 Posted January 23 It felt like year 2 of whatever this build is so no. Quote
mjt328 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Going into the season, the schedule was setup perfect for us getting the #1 seed. I was skeptical because of our past finishes, but also optimistic that things could play out different if we got homefield and a bye. By mid-season, I knew we had blown our chance at the #1 seed. But with the Chiefs and Ravens falling apart, I was hoping we could figure things out internally to turn the season around. At the end, I was crossing my fingers... but inside I figured it was probably going to be another disappointing finish. Quote
90sBills Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Yes. Path was cleared. The team failed in crunch time. 1 Quote

bmur66 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I thought there was a chance they would get struck by lightning but it didn’t happen. Quote
billieve420 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Not sure but we definitely had a shot if we made it to the Super Bowl. I thought we had enough to get through the AFC. Quote
Shortchaz Posted January 23 Posted January 23 In a way. i thought the 2024 draft was done in a way to set us up for 2025. I felt we needed some players on the defensive side of the ball to outplay their contract, especially rookies. after the Miami game I got the sense that the defense wasn’t going to come together the way I hoped. before the season I thought this was the year, that hope faded after Miami. EssexBill Posted January 23 Posted January 23 (edited) I thought last year was our year, never had that same feeling this year. Last year was special with Josh’s MVP season, a season everyone thought we had no chance because of all the departures before it started. We got screwed by the refs way more against the chiefs than the broncos, that one still hurts as we should have been in the SB Edited January 23 by EssexBill Quote
Rocbillsfan1 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Once I saw the beginning of the Denver game I thought it might be. Quote
Real McCoy Posted January 23 Posted January 23 With A healthy Allen, O line and Cooks every year can be our year. Quote
Chicharito Posted January 23 Posted January 23 No. The reasoning is of McDermott soft zone defense. I am surprised we won this many games. 1 1 Quote

We were a top 3 team in terms of time missed due to injury. On that front, we just found out that both Allen and Kincaid might need offseason surgery. We had arguably the worst WR corps in the league - at minimum top 5 worst. We ended up a 6 seed. The narrative - as we all know - was "Allen has to win this year without Mahomes, Jackson & Burrow in the playoffs." Kind of an unusual take for a team that has to go on the road for 3 straight games just to make the SB. For me, in retrospect - I only thought it was our year because I'm a homer and feel like EVERY year with Allen will be our year. I think most of us agreed that this was probably our weakest roster in the JA era, especially w/ the injuries. Jax could have easily tied the game last week without the INT, and we could have pretty easily lost. Despite our complaints about officiating in the Denver game & the Cooks catch, that game still game down to a single play - I didn't think we'd have a major problem with the Broncos, and we did. We could have easily lost Sunday in a 3rd tilt w/ the Pats on the road, and then I think it would have taken our very best & mistake-free football to beat either LA or Seattle - 2 superior all around teams. Maybe I'm rationalizing, but I'm curious what others think. Sounds like you answered your own question. This should have been our year as well as at least 2 one seeds prior. We sucked the 1st half of most games, lost the usual stupid ones by not being prepared and got bent over by the refs according to our coach. I don't know what it is with people that don't realize we need to change now. New stadium, new mantra, new outlook. Good marketing maybe, but it would have been better if this SB went through the Ralph's final days and apparently wasn't taken seriously enough. Nope, we got punked by 1st and 2nd year coaches and QBs. Went from looking like SB favorites to looking like fools. AND SO FAR WE HAVE WASTED THE CAREER OF A GENERATIONAL QB. H2o Posted January 23 Posted January 23 When we beat Jax, I thought we could make it there at least. I didn't necessarily think we could win it all. I expected a Rams or Seahawks matchup. I knew those two would be a tough go. But I thought maybe, just maybe, Superman would have his cape on that day. Quote
