Except for easy wins against the Jets and the Panthers (when they were really playing badly), we struggled for most of our other games, and often turned what should have been layups into nailbiters.  We were a top 3 team in terms of time missed due to injury. On that front, we just found out that both Allen and Kincaid might need offseason surgery.  We had arguably the worst WR corps in the league - at minimum top 5 worst.

We ended up a 6 seed.  The narrative - as we all know - was "Allen has to win this year without Mahomes, Jackson & Burrow in the playoffs."  Kind of an unusual take for a team that has to go on the road for 3 straight games just to make the SB.

For me, in retrospect - I only thought it was our year because I'm a homer and feel like EVERY year with Allen will be our year.  I think most of us agreed that this was probably our weakest roster in the JA era, especially w/ the injuries.  Jax could have easily tied the game last week without the INT, and we could have pretty easily lost.  Despite our complaints about officiating in the Denver game & the Cooks catch, that game still game down to a single play - I didn't think we'd have a major problem with the Broncos, and we did.  We could have easily lost Sunday in a 3rd tilt w/ the Pats on the road, and then I think it would have taken our very best & mistake-free football to beat either LA or Seattle - 2 superior all around teams.

Maybe I'm rationalizing, but I'm curious what others think.

I went into the season with lower expectations because I didn't like our offseason moves. I allowed myself to get a little more excited when it seemed like a weaker field was presenting itself in the playoffs. But I never had that feeling like it was "our" year. Moreso in 2024 and 2025 (edit to add: going by playoff years). Oh well. Another chapter in Bills fandom. We'll see what next year brings.

Nope. From the beginning of the Ravens game I assumed we'd get to the playoffs and then lose not in a blowout but by some crazy, heartbreaking, controversial way.

This team never disappoints

The schedule was incredibly favorable.

They should have easily gotten the first seed and a bye.

Lost opportunity for a wide range of reasons

Even with all that said, they should have run the table in the playoffs too.

If the young DL guys dont have sophomore slump and they get a little more luck with injuries they should be fine next year.

They dont have that many holes. One safety, one edge, a LB, and a couple WRs. That is not unreasonable ask from the draft and FA.

Absolutely NOT. I knew just how flawed this team was watching game one, and that embarrassing display by the D.

We do it every year. Make it harder for ourselves by playing dumb ball and losing games.

Never thought it was despite Allen being capable of making it his year. We had a chance to win the Denver game and could have beat New England.

But I never thought it was our year.

The Dolphins and Falcons killed any chance at the division and #1 seed.

The way the team kept starting every game just flat and not actually playing until the 2nd half every game, told me that our coaching staff just wasn't getting it done, so i kind of thought that this year wasn't going to turn out well.

I still held hope that we'd turn it on in the post season, but that turned out exactly like the regular season.........we're not winning a SB like that.

I try to refrain from developing a true sense of belief because it just hurts that much more when they inevitably rip my heart out and take turns stomping on it lol.

The last time I was really like, "This is it, they're gonna do it" Dalton Kincaid dropped the ball like five minutes later.

That said, this year was so flukey. One week they'd look elite, the next week you'd think they all forgot how to play football. Maybe halfway thru the season my mantra became, "Hey, why not the Bills?" On top of that, all their losses were close one-score games (sans the crapfest in Miami) so they weren't getting blown out in a loss and they found ways to win close ones plus the comeback games, it's like they kinda ran the gamut on ways to win or lose this season. And then the losses were usually self-inflicted, don't turn the stupid ball over and you probably win.

I didn't like the matchup with Jacksonville. I didn't get the sense that the Jags were gonna whomp 'em like 45-17 or anything, I just felt like the wheels were gonna fall off somehow. And then they went and had one of their most complete games of the season. That gave me a lot of confidence heading into Denver. I didn't think Denver was half the team Jacksonville had been over the last 6-8 weeks of the season.

Up until Jimmy fumbled that ball, to me, it 100% looked like they were about to roll their way to a 40 burger with JA on the bench with 10 minutes left in the 4th. But then, well, we know what happened.

I'm always hopeful. Belief is where they kick me right in the nards.
