Yobogoya! Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I'm surprised he even has an interest in coaching. When was the last time a "star" QB didn't go into broadcast as a booth or analyst? Most of those guys still want the money and spotlight but not the grueling work week in and week out. If he's serious about it he must really want a chance at a ring. 1 Quote
Warriorspikes51 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Could Lou Anarumo mentioned Rivers as his OC? Quote

Even if they don't hire them, they are gaining perspective from lots of different places. I think they're just really targeting one of the coaches that's still in the playoffs and simply are doing all these just to fill in the time til they get those interviews. 3 Quote

JPL7 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Anyone complaining about this just doesn’t grasp the process. Why wouldn’t you interview as many guys as possible? Not to mention, a number of guys (Udinski, Webb, Rivers) could be potential play calling OC candidates. Leave no stone unturned! This is fantastic! 4 Quote

Not trying to claim Webb isn’t a bright dude but you can probably fill two books with things rivers knows that Webb doesn’t im all for hating both moves though for sure haha not sure if most people fall into that category Backup QBs generally make better coaches. It’s strange Quote

Gee, isn’t a head coach supposed to pick his own staff? Are the GM and owner going to meddle in this as well? Are they doing this just to learn about football? This doesn’t smell good right now. In what world is he qualified to be an NFL HC? He is not. So why do they call it that? . Edited January 23 by Augie 1 3 1 Quote

Rivers as a QB coach makes sense. These interviews have to be for HC/OC/QB and so on. Zero chance Rivers is here for HC spot with no college or NFL exp... 1 Quote

I have been on interviews before where in hindsight I realized it was just fact finding expeditions. We need to fill out an entire coaching staff. We need as much information and options as possible. This process is unlikely to conclude until we can meet with Kubiak. Why would people have any issue interviewing as many people as possible. It's smart business and smart hiring.
