Draconator Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Dawson mentioned that Josh was playing on a broken foot and Dalton Kincaid was playing with a torn PCL for the 2nd season in a row at the end of the year. 1 1 Quote

That ls not good. He will need to get surgery on it and thats a 9 month recovery. Not surprising on Josh. He needs to get it done asap,so he can be 100% come OTA's Quote

eball Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Everyone should take a DEEP breath and RELAX about the McD firing and “fallout” among players. A few things are abundantly clear: Both McD and Beane are GOOD PEOPLE who care about the organization and its people You can be a good/great coach and still FAIL at crucial times by having your a-hole pucker You can be a good/great GM and still MISS on some of your decisions The most important thing going forward is a commitment to doing everything possible to support Josh and get this team over the hump. 1 1 3 Quote

In the Army, they say "You can't beat a dead horse enough" TSW is still in that mode over firing McD. Unfortunately, it may be a while before fan support is running on all 8-cylinders. Here's hoping... Quote

Totally agree. Hearing Morse and Knox open up after a few cocktails and giving inside insight was most reassuring. It makes you realize how much crap information and commentary is floating out there. Listening to Knox and Morse talk about their own employment situations and the cap, and how Knox really wants to come back, realizes he likely will need to take a pay cut to stay, and both of them saying what a great guy and straight shooter Beane is was great. And how both felt about McDermott, what a fine coach and person he is but also inferring they understood the change makes me more sanguine about the future. Thanks to MrEps for posting!!! 1 Quote

I for one hope Knox is a Bill for his entire career ! The last couple of seasons it was like Brady or Josh had forgotten why the Bills resigned Knox in the first place until they started calling his number then he'd show out and let them remember why . Many here were complaining that he needed to be cut due to the cap and what he was costing the team but once again when call upon there he was doing the thing that got him paid . As far as the difference between him & Kincaid is sure Kincaid is a big part of the offense but if he's not on the field which has proven in some cases that he isn't available due to injury but Knox although not amune to injury seems to be tougher when it comes to that & is usually available and as they say a players best ability is availability !! Tulsabillsfanz Posted January 23 Posted January 23 The more time passes and we hear from current players like Knox, it makes much more sense to retain Beane. I know this goes against the angry fan narrative, but if Pegula fired both McDermott and Beane, you really may have had some player retention issues. The fact that both guys appear to be well respected allows this big change to be more of a reset than a blowing up of the team culture. I do believe change was needed, but retaining the culture that players have positively commented on for the last several years is still important. Beane’s presence gives us a good chance to retain that culture through this coaching change. Quote

Almost every game this season, Knox got free over the middle and Josh would hit him and it was an automatic 20-40 yards. It was money. Against Denver I was starting to wonder, "where's that deep crosser to Knox, that play is money" and wouldn't ya know it, they dialed it up just a play or two later....and sonofabiscuit, Josh just missed him. I nearly launched myself off the couch. It was there and they just missed it. Bummertown, population us. Think it was the only time all season they missed on it. Knox was solid this season, he can stay as long as he wants. Edited January 23 by blacklabel 1 Quote

Not being cynical, but what would anyone expect to hear from a current player on the roster who was just informed Beane is THE PRESIDENT AND IN FULL CONTROL of the roster and having just over managed his way up by being in pegulas ear, stepping over the guy responsible for bringing him to the Bills , controls your fate with the organization?! Not exactly an unbiased , tell all interview. Yeah, Knox is no dummy and of course has nothing but praise for Beane. i just listened to PFF guys talk about Beane. It was not good. Three separate times he called and Demanded things be changed. Two related to Allen. One was rating Allen as the 31 or so qb in HIS FIRST YEAR. The second was about an article some writer said Duck Hodges was a better qb than Allen , and it was just after two games by Hodges. I forget the third instance. The thing that they said was different, was he DEMANDED THEY CHANGE THE ARTICLES OR RATING OR HE THREATENED TO WITHDRAW BUSINESS FROM PFF. Apparently all teams subscribe to off as a service at a large fee , as the pff guys stated , it involves several zeros with the contracts. So Beane was so sensitive he threatened to pull large sums of money from pff. Sounds petty , right ? I mean most gms contact or listen to pff , but according to them, Beane was so thin skinned HE PLAYED the POWER GAME enough to threaten ending their contract ! Do you really want your gm listening so much to PFF , AND being so bothered he personally called to threaten them financially? If you don’t believe me listen to their hour talking about the bills firing McDermott. They were ok with the change but there are issues with Beane that most don’t know and in their eyes it wasn’t good qualities. Do you trust the rebuilding to a guy like this? Most of us complained during the year about the roster. I think it was obvious during the presser they dumped , especially Pegula did, as much as possible on Mcd to set their narrative. I was ok with moving on , but I firmly believe Beane had responsibility for most roster things and I think pegulas effusive Beane praise was not correct or warranted, but came from years of beans talking points and pegulas vulnerability with kim’s loss. I think it was easier to move to Beane , especially with kim’s disability. Time will tell. But things like waddle, slay, bad contracts like miller , Palmer , Elam, Coleman etc all raise questions in my mind. He is here because of Allen , but I doubt he did that without Sean’s input , and that influence around one pick persists. The waste of invested free agent money has been crazy. The Bernard extension is bad , all the kr changes was fruitless. Whose idea was it to hold off on a decision with bass preseason raises issues. IMO , I just wish if they wanted to change , change it all as it seems the philosophy might not change enough to really advance the team with half the regime still in place. I am ok with change , but this seemed emotionally done without a clear path in mind. Also we now know Josh is in every interview. Seems odd to have him take on all that when really he should be mentally refreshing and getting ready for his new child , which takes precedent over being in interviews for a coach. Lots of people watching this and so far not a lot of praise is floating around. Not just my opinion, but watching multiple sources from players such as Morse, long and more. Right now the entire organization is being judged. I hope they don’t stick with retreads like daboll or mcdaniels ( not a great leader having watched him lose to Mcd often and his quirky behavior on hard Knocks) Would prefer kubiak or the prior qb who was here. Guy from Jax also getting good reviews so far. Best wishes. Fingers crossed. People in NY really need to hope ; after paying all the taxes. , dealing with psl’s and then having the organization throw this at them , have to wish this brings a Lombardi for being so loyal. After all , it’s all those ticket sales pegula noted that reflects his belief the roster is already great! 🙂✌️ 2 Quote
