Bro, just hug the ball with your life depending on it when you hit the ground and we wouldn't be here.

Or, win the game in regulation by fighting off the defender OR selling the PI. Either one would have worked. And maybe Allen throws it a hair longer in OT if you didn’t mess that play up as well.  Surprised he’s showing his face, honestly.

Or maybe the ref making the right call

he coulda got two feet down on the dot that hit him on the sidelines too.  it's hard for an older wr to come in mid season and ball, so i'm not mad at him

Am I crazy for being open to Cooks return in 2026? Basically as the Y WR? I know he'll be 33 in late September, but he seemed to have some juice left. Curious how he'd look with a full offseason.

I would def bring him back, especially if we go WR via draft.  I like his veteran leadership.  I don't like his drops.

I don't think most people realize what impacting the ground at full speed does to your grip on a football.

He could have been squeezing the life out of that thing and, depending on angles, sometimes it just simply does not matter.

Try as you might, you can't overcome physics.

No.  I’d actually be suprised if he doesn’t come back.

We’re stuck with Palmer, so at least we’d head into FA or Draft knowing we have Cooks, Shakir and Palmer.

Keon is getting traded for whatever we can get and Samuel is getting cut.

Shavers comes back and starts the season on PUP and maybe we see him next year, maybe not.

Hard to blame him there..refs just blew that one.  Moss never located the football and when cooks slows up to line up a high point moss thinks the ball is coming in short for a split second then he has to hold like crazy to prevent cooks from playing the ball when he realizes it’s an end zone shot

it’s alright letting them play but then just don’t call the two in OT and give the broncos only the RTP.  Maybe they win on a 55 ish yarder anyway

Yea his shoulder takes two big shots there…people think he was unconscious but I think he just hurt his shoulder bad

Sure but he definitely need to sell it there.

That was my biggest issue after the play with Cooks.  He just walked to the sideline as if he agreed with the call.  I think that if he did try to sell it better, we would have seen more of a review from the refs, and maybe even swayed the decision.

He got two feet down if I remember correctly but he had a bit of forearm come down first oob…that was a close one that goes under the radar.  Right call though

Honest question - did Cooks have more drops unsuccessful targets than receptions?  I had to look it up:

Reg Season: 11 Targets, 5 Receptions

Playoffs, same number: 11 targets, 5 Receptions

I think we can do better.

This^^^^^ Exactly this. The Denver player was doing a celebration dance and Cooks looked like his dog died. That made it an easy call for the refs to make.

Define "drops", because a lot of that difference between Targets and Receptions is Josh missing him on deep balls by 5+ yards.

It really is hard to fault him for the "interception" (which IMHO was a catch) given the force with which he hit the ground and the fluky manner in which the DB was able to glide through the rollover and cleanly pry the ball loose. It was one of many fluky plays in which the ball simply did not bounce our way in that game -- for the life of me, I still can't understand how Anderson did not recover that fumble at the end of the first half!

One thing we can say is that Cooks was the one receiver that Beane brought in who could consistently get separation. He's had a reputation for running professional routes -- even when he is not the intended receiver on the play. The team NEEDS to find a true alpha receiver in the off-season, but I have no problem bringing Cooks back as part of the corps.
