This is it so far?  There’s  not  a name on that list I’d want.

Rex Ryan: Called front desk, caller i.d. revealed it to be Rex Ryan.  Memo threatening termination to any employee answering the call was posted at OBD.

The only acceptable response from the team.

So far the only name I like is Joe Brady, and I don't like that name very much.

Brady is not ready for HC yet. Though, he has the respect of the players--so there is that.

I could see Anthony Weaver as a Defensive Coordinator here especially if the goal is to hire a first time HC

This list looks as much like some advance coordinator scouting as anything.

Can they just hire Seth Appert and get him off the sabres?

Of the six names so far a lot with prior ties with the team. That is my concern with Beane based on player decisions - it is hard for him leave the circle of people he knows and playing it safe. I tended to blame that on McD but maybe that was Beane as well. Lets get a bit more creative maybe. Venture to the unknown. Swing for the fences.

There are certain coaches the Bills can't interview until after the superbowl. My understanding is that they can still reach out to their agents.

Can they ask which coordinators they'd be interested in and start preliminary interviews? Genuine question.

This job feels like, with the possible exception of Daboll (who I don’t think gets it) and MAYBE Flores that it will be a first time guy. I don’t think Flores and Beane would mesh. They aren’t hiring some old washed has been. They’re trying to find what’s next. Kubiak, Webb, Udinski, Brady in order feels like the candidates to me. They will try to get a big name DC to pair with them. I like @gonzo1105 idea of Weaver.

I wouldn’t want to have another defensive minded HC. You are always having to replace your OC if he’s any good, and that position is too important to be in flux all the time. That narrows the list to offensive minded prospects, and so far they don’t impress me much either.

Brian Flores should get an interview. He could fix the D. Would want to know who he would bring in as his OC.

Considering how he went scorched earth after his Miami exodus, I wonder if other teams would be seriously interested in hiring him?

I agree. Plus, the flip side of this is if our DC gets hired away to be HC, then our defense was elite and we probably had an amazing season.
