BRH Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Could be thinking about having him on staff, although hopefully not as OC, so it makes sense to get him in and float the possibility. He’s a good guy. 1 Quote

If the Bills wanted a guy like Daboll, it would make sense to get Lynn here today to interview so you can check one of the Rooney Rule boxes and move onto Daboll so he can build a staff now. By waiting till Sat to interview Lynn, it leads more to the Bills not in a rush with any of the potential guys they could hire tomorrow if they wanted. I think that’s over reading it. You could have daboll in today/tomorrow and let him start in building his team more officially while cleaning up the process if you went with this schedule. we are going to have more than 2 interviews even if we have a favorite out of the gate. YoloinOhio Posted January 21 Posted January 21 (edited) Everyone jumps to Rooney roll and that’s fine and does check that box, but remember that some candidates will be brought in because they would like to consider them as part of their staff, but not as a head coach. While they’re waiting to talk to some of the candidates who are still in the playoffs, they can have interviews like these. Edited January 21 by YoloinOhio 3 1 Quote

You must interview 2 minorities candidates before hiring a HC. You can't hire someone and then interview someone for a job not opened. 2 minutes ago, YoloinOhio said: Everyone jumps to Rooney roll and that’s fine and does check that box, but remember that some candidates will be brought in because they would like to consider them as part of their staff, but not as a head coach That's also a good call with losing the run game coordinator. BuffaloBillyG Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Lynn hasn't interviewed for a while for a HC job and not at all this cycle as far as I know. This screams that they already have their guy in mind and are checking boxes. I don't expect this to be a widespread search. They will hit their Rooney checks and hire their guy quickly. I expect someone like Pierce or Eviro to interview next. And then onto the real guy. Quote

Wild here but you know you can tell a candidate things went well and to see what he can pull together without hiring him, right? you don’t have to sign the contract during the interview Quote
Governor Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I’m fine with everyone’s top choice but I do have some concerns. Can you really give full control to a 100 year old man? Quote
since79 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Could he be a guy to be the adult in the room with a young coach? Interview to see if he is interested. Quote
MikePJ76 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 (edited) Lynn is an excellent assistant coach and would be a great running backs coach here for kubiak. I think he crossed paths with him somewhere. I have to look it up. edit. Yea Lynn was with kubiak in sf in the Super Bowl year in 23. he would be great to have on kubiaks staff here Edited January 21 by MikePJ76 Quote
TheyCallMeAndy Posted January 21 Posted January 21 My fear is we would primarily interview ex-Bills coaches. 1 Quote
Jerboski Posted January 21 Posted January 21 If this is anything but satisfying the Rooney then we have serious problems 1 Quote

Lynn was the running game coordinator under Shanahan in sf in 23 and Klint kubiak was the passing game coordinator. excellent veteran to have as a right hand man for kubiak here. Has all the experience and knows the Buffalo market. Quote
AlCowlingsTaxiService Posted January 21 Posted January 21 The Rooney Rules time has passed and has become an embarrassment to coaches of color IMO 1 1 Quote
