Sojourner Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Jeff Saturday said it best imo, I don’t understand why you fire Sean but promote Beane. It doesn’t make sense. Now people will pander to the stability he offers going into a new season in a new stadium but the failures this team has had fall at the feet of both GM and HC. 2 Quote
RVJ Posted January 21 Author Posted January 21 So far the fans voted Beane to be fired instead. Quote
SoonerBillsFan Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Doesn't matter. Do all the polls, petitions, billboards etc. McDermott is gone and needed to be. 3 1 6 1 2 Quote
Trogdor Posted January 21 Posted January 21 The only thing they did wrong was not fire both. There was no either or in this situation, they both under performed. 2 6 Quote

gobills1212 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 So novel, there are already a couple books written on the subject one post up and one post down 1 Quote
JPL7 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 It’s fine. Beane is a quality sport’s executive, but he’s not a great talent evaluator. So this is what’s likely going to happen… Beane will be the overseer of football with two direct reports: new head coach and a new gm. Watch. so everyone relax. Wait to see this out. In the end, it was time for McD to go. He ran his course. Josh needs a new coach, preferably an offensive minded coach to reach the apex. Everyone take a breath and see this out. Stop buying into the mass hysteria from the local and National media. 1 1 3 1 2 Quote

According to Terry pegula bb had final say and full control of the draft Of course Sean McDermott had influence (what coach doesn't )but the Buffalo Bills said Brandon Bean had control even years ago Even if a change had to be made saying Sean McDermott was in total control of the roster doesn't fit in step with what the bills have said over the years Do you think Sean McDermott got rid of jamarcus Ingram? Guy he was developing for years? For a guy that didn't want to come here... Or did BB think he could make slay reconsider Edited January 21 by Buffalo716 4 1 Quote

GoBills808 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 No. Sorry not sorry. McDermott needed to go. Now if you want to say they only fired 60% of the problem that's fine. But they definitely fired the right person. 2 2 1 1 Quote
Big Turk Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Is there a reason we needed another new thread when we probably already have 5 on this same topic? 1 Quote
TFBillsfan Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I don’t think they were wrong in letting McDermott go. You only get so many bites of the apple and he had ample opportunities to do it. At some point, you can’t keep running it back. I think we all agree how it was handled and the lack of respect shown was a bad look on Pegula and Beane. It seems more are upset with Beane staying instead of being dismissed as well. If Beane doesn’t significantly improve the roster or draft better, his days are likely numbered as well. 1 Quote

Amaru523 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Fortunately, this isn't a question that will haunt us forever, we should know the answer fairly quick. 1 Quote
