(linked below) https://www.golongtd.com/p/why-was-sean-mcdermott-fired removepaywall doesn’t work for that article. The article you linked in your previous post was not the right article. You linked to the 13 seconds article. But ty dunne already made the article free, so removepaywall wasn’t required to read it (which is why it worked). sites that archive articles like removepaywall can work for substack subscription articles but only if someone with a substack subscription to that specific article first archives the article on the site for others to read. i already checked the history at removepaywall (linked below). There were 4 archives for the “why was season McDermott fired” article but none were the full article. It was only part of the first page, the same as shown on Dunne’s site. https://archive.is/https://www.golongtd.com/p/why-was-sean-mcdermott-fired I have yet to find a reliable method for reading substack subscriptions but I’d love to have one if you know of other ways! 😁 There are a few methods including disabling java, using AI to read you the article, a few.mpre. I'll work on it today. 1 Quote

Don't think that has anything to do with a toxic work culture, just shared trauma that is hard to overcome when it keeps happening over and over again. I don’t know, I’d find frequent discussion of a negative workplace event occurring years later to be a very bad environment. I’d hope someone would step in to install new leadership (new coach) or find a way to convince staff to move on. Quote
Bermuda Triangle Posted January 24 Posted January 24 With McDermott gone, how will Dunne fill his Bills content quota moving forward? Maybe an annual "Ode to Beane"? 1 Quote

He saw his coach do something so egregious it sent him off down the path where he needed to be such a horrible teammate that the Bills had no choice but to trade him. He wasnt a horrible teammate as much as he was blatantly calling out the coaching in front of everyone. I guess that's a horrible teammate, but he wasnt doing anything to the other players. Just the coaches. Who deserved it. Publicly called out McD's philosophies in front of everyone at mini-camp with rookies (and he was right). McD forced Beane to trade him away and eat $32M in dead cap. Wonder if that was the beginning of the rift between Beane and McD. 2 1 Quote

Yup, and there is no doubt in my mind that where ever Diggs has gone he does not hesitate to continue to rightfully so throw McDermott under the bus. People in the league listen to that and ultimatly see the on field coaching gaffs in playoff games and form their own opinions of McDermott to which I think he might have trouble getting work elsewhere. He did what he had to to get out Quote

Maybe he waited for key moments, but that's assuming a lot of planning and scheming, when for the most part, he had just run a bunch of deep routes back to back. 1 Quote

His beef was with Dorsey's dumbass scheme that had Josh throwing low percentage deep balls to Davis based off the defensive look, and the Bengals knew it so they would show him that look pre-snap over and over. Again, he was right. Stop taking the deep ball bait and throw it to the open Diggs for the 1st down. That video just reinforces it. 1 2 1 Quote

I don't think he's lying about everything, but I also don't think he's putting in much work to prove that the narrative is wrong. He wants to be provocative and he wants his pieces to gain traction. He's not seeking to tell a balanced story. That's fine. He's an entertainment journalist. Regarding McDermott/Allen, until Josh comes out and tells us McDermott sucked, I think it's unlikely they had a strained relationship. I also don't think Daboll and Josh have had nearly as close a relationship as is contended by some people. McDermott was at Josh's wedding and Daboll wasn't. I have a really hard time believing that McDermott told Josh something to the effect of "a women's place is in the home - stop worrying about it." What happened after Dunne released his initial piece was that the team seemingly rallied around McDermott and went on to win the rest of their regular season games and take the division back from Miami who, at the time the piece was released, had a three game lead on Buffalo in the standings. That doesn't really jive with a team that hates their coach. He never said it was a strained relationship. He actually said it wasn't by any means. He just said it was not the type of great relationship you'd want between your HC and franchise QB...nothing like Reid and Mahomes have in KC for instance. Quote

Memo to the new Bills HC - call Jake from State Farm and do some commercials with Josh. 1 Quote
BillsFan4 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 'He wants to win the whole damn thing:' Inside the Buffalo Bills' decision to hire Joe Brady as HC https://www.golongtd.com/p/he-wants-to-win-the-whole-damn-thing Ty Dunne made another article free on his site. Definitely a good read. I’ve really enjoyed getting to read some of his work. I think this is the 5th or 6th Bills related article he’s made free. He is doing some of the most in depth behind the scenes reporting on the Bills that I’ve found. I’m actually thinking of subscribing to his substack. 2 Quote
