It feels like we're right back to where we started, being the joke of the league and a place no one wants to play. All in the span of less than 48 hours. I will say that McDermott has played this masterfully in the press, and has caught Beane off guard. I don't think he or Pegula can recover in the eyes of the fans. I supported this yesterday because I thought we needed a new voice, but hearing about the internal conflicts between the coaches and the FO makes me think that we are going back to being a joke and waiting for Terry to cede control to his kids. What did McDermott even do? The Bills FO spent 8 minutes firing the man who broke a 17 year old drought. Meanwhile the Ravens allowed Harbaugh to send a note thanking the fans through their organization, and thanked him profusely themselves. McDermott had to send a note through the media to get his message out to the fans. This is purely on the Bills organization. And it's well earned bad vibes. This isn't how you treat people 1 5 1 Quote

zow2 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Pegula needs to show the confidence of the Ravens owner. and be like i own the team, it’s my decision, and you (media) can STFU. 2 Quote

Agreed. This is a slippery slope. For alot of this we saw all too often how bad it can get. Yet here we are again… it all comes down to who they hire.. then who that person hires as his OC and DC. if they make questionable decisions and we start 0-2. The wheels could fall off quick! Make good decisions and start off good. And all is forgotten . 1 Quote

YE OLE has had much the same astonishment at the reaction… and YE has been a supporter of McDermott. I think this move would have been received completely differently had Beane also been let go and the organization did a more respectful parting of the ways with Sean. I feel that most of us understand the urgency of Josh’s prime dwindling away and needing a change, but McDermott will always be a beloved figure to this franchise for what he contributed. MikePJ76 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I am being completely honest when I say this. I don’t care and I am already over the Beane McDermott soap opera. I just can’t wait till they make a new hire. It will be an exciting offseason. Unless they hire Brian Daboll. Then I will be sick. 2 2 Quote

Steptide Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Part of me wonders if the reason for the delay with beane and Terry meeting with media, was to let McDermott talk to his players and coaches, which would be the right thing to do. 1 Quote

For a lot of us it was all or nothing. I don’t trust beane. Period. Never have, never will. Now he is the one picking the coach? Yeeaahhhh. Grrrrreaaatt. 2 2 Quote
Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I would be checking press credentials. They might have it rigged to an ultra friendly press corps. 🤨 "Next question, the sports editor from 'The Magnificat', your question, sir?" Quote

From him trying to make Josh Allen a game manager, to his bend but don't break defence, to his defence who folds every playoffs. Not to say he's a bad coach, but his time has expired here and he's not the right coach for Josh Allen 2 6 1 Quote

Or, he can show the respect McDermott deserves, thank him for all he’s done, and then explain the changes that needed to be made, and the vision moving forward. That’s an option too. 1 1 Quote

Now, everyone seems to suddenly love the guy. What gives? Well your framing is wrong, so I can see why you’re so confused. Everyone wanted them both gone. They are tired of the duo and if you told most fans that both bean and McD were fired, they’d be happy. Time to move on. However, since the situation turned out to be McD out, bean becomes supreme leader, people’s position, IN THE GIVEN REALITY, had to shift. The question is no longer, clean slate, start over or not, it’s we have to keep one and put them in charge of everything. But you must keep one. Most people are choosing McD over bean. So yes. We all prefer a clean slate. But given that’s not one of the options, people are settling on the least of two evils. Given beans ego and poor roster, and McD’s supposed over performance, most are choosing McD, but does not make them McD guys. Hope that helps. 1 4 Quote
