With all the Beane leaks lately about how the roster was good enough, whoever our new coach is will be stepping into a "fun" situation.

How does next season need to end for you to feel like this was all a good decision? For me, it's Josh's 30 year old season, they doubled/tripled/quadrupled down on Beane and his roster building, and make it clear that divisional round/conference championship round losses are not good enough. I guess they have to reach the super bowl next year to fulfill their own expectations.

i think there has to be a very aggressive attempt to make this look like a super bowl roster at least.  otherwise i won't expect too much.

Given the recent reports about how Terry and Beane say this a Super Bowl roster and disagreed with Sean tells me that whoever walks in that door better hit the ground running.

That alone is enough pressure. Combine that with one of the best QB’s in football makes me think they hire someone with experience in the league to fill that role.

But then again I don’t know anything lol

I think there will be.

McD used up all his scapegoats, and now Beane has used up his scapegoat ace in the hole.

No more excuses.

And beane needs to prove at this point that the roster construction problems were because McD wanted it that way (whether true or not).

I expect the chips to be in the middle of the table this off-season.

It tells me if the next guy doesn't at least make the SB, Terry and Brandon look like idiots.  They surrendered on a guy that turned the franchise around, and blind arrogance will be their undoing.

Lastly, if we slide which is very likely if you actually Brandon thinks this is what SB caliber looks like, and we don’t make the playoffs,  dance around that point vs. actually GETTING TALENT.

My question/fear is that if Beane and Pegula think the roster is good enough already then why would they have an aggressive off-season?

I think you’re going to see a 2 year retool including this offseason. I expect the Bills will be aggressive in free agency getting players that fit the new coaches vision and fixing the WR position because he has left himself exposed and now he almost has to fix it

What we have created is a situation where a step back between regimes, is likely through turnover and this step back would benefit from a more defined long term vision.

A 2 year retool should go over well with the fans and a 30+ year old Josh Allen

I really think they need to win now but I'm sure we'll hear about practicing patience despite it being the same GM

If the new coach doesn’t lose multiple games to opponents they have no business losing to in the middle of the season then it should be easy to win the division that would already put the new coach ahead of McDermott

Serious question, how aggressive can they be? There’s only so much cap space they can make and dump without it being a hinderance down the road.

Who’s leaving and being restructured this year in your opinion?

Top candidates to leave:

Curtis Samuel

Taylor Rapp

Tyler Bass

Dorian Williams

Ty Johnson

Dewayne Carter

Restructures:

Dawson Knox

Josh Allen

Spencer Brown

I think these are the obvious ones. The top 3 are gone up top in my opinion. Dorian Williams would save a couple of million dollars and Ty Johnson would save almost 3 by being released. Carter would be like a 1.5

Dawkins and Oliver can also be restructured but I am not touching those contracts anymore. They are depreciating in my opinion and I don’t want to keep pushing their salaries further.

I see Dawkins, Oliver, Johnson, Bernard staying for one more year and then being traded or released is likely particularly Bernard and Johnson and could see Oliver. I’d say Dawkins is the least likely.

Defensively is hard to say what direction they go in until you know what system they are putting into place but the Bills could easily open 45 million or so under the cap. That should give you more than enough to do what you need to do this year.

A retool doesn’t mean a rebuild. The Bills will be retooling how they do things particularly defensively and I expect a lot of new faces there in a 2 year period starting this offseason

Actually I'm fine if they take a step back a bit next year as they remake the team.  Then the pressure will certainly be on the next year. Look change was coming this year or next, now all of a sudden the pitchforks are out. As if this hasn't happened before with lots of sports franchises. Am I nervous? Yes! Am i also excited about the possibility of finally getting over the hump? YES!!!!!!

That’s what I’m thinking too. As much of an attractive job as might seem, the pressure is going to be monumental for a young coach. Makes me think they will go with someone that can handle that.

the expectation with a bad roster is a deep playoff run within a year or two these days
