ngbills Posted January 20 Posted January 20 An offense with Josh Allen at QB and Mike McDaniel as head coach or offensive coordinator would be terrifying—and different from what we’ve seen in Buffalo or Miami. It would blend Allen’s size/arm/chaos with McDaniel’s precision, spacing, and speed. Think controlled explosiveness instead of backyard football. Here’s what it would likely look like: Core Identity “Speed-based spread with power answers” McDaniel’s system is built on: Pre-snap motion Creating leverage and space YAC opportunities Marrying run and pass looks Josh Allen adds: Elite arm strength (deep + opposite-hash throws) Designed QB run threat Off-schedule playmaking Red-zone dominance Together, it becomes a defensive nightmare. Formations & Structure You’d see: Heavy use of 21 & 12 personnel (McDaniel staple) Motion on almost every snap Condensed formations that explode outward post-snap Frequent shifts to diagnose coverage But unlike Miami: Defenses can’t sit in light boxes because Allen punishes them with QB power and vertical shots. Passing Game 1. Middle-of-the-Field Reign McDaniel would lean hard into: Deep crossers Over routes Posts behind linebackers frozen by play-action Allen’s arm lets McDaniel: Call long-developing concepts he doesn’t fully trust with Tua Attack Cover 2 and Cover 4 seams aggressively 2. Vertical Game on Steroids With Allen: More deep digs, posts, and slot fades More opposite-hash throws that stretch safeties horizontally More shot plays off motion Defenses can’t rotate late—Allen will beat it. 3. YAC + Cannon McDaniel loves rhythm throws: Slants Speed outs Choice routes Allen adds: Ability to rifle the ball late without disrupting timing Turn “covered” into “open” Run Game This is where it gets unfair. McDaniel’s run game already: Uses wide zone to stretch defenses Forces over-pursuit With Allen: QB power / counter / bash concepts Read-option that must be respected Red-zone QB runs that force single coverage outside You’re defending: RB wide zone QB power Play-action bombs …all from identical looks. Red Zone Offense (Elite) This combo would be borderline unstoppable: Motion to identify coverage Pick plays and rub routes TE seams Allen as a 240-lb goal-line back Defenses can’t play man (Allen runs) Can’t play zone (spacing kills it) Tempo & Game Flow McDaniel would: Use selective tempo (not constant hurry-up) Script explosive plays early Force defenses into bad personnel groupings Allen would: Extend drives with his legs Bail out broken plays without breaking structure This is key: McDaniel would reduce Allen’s reckless tendencies without neutering him. What It Would Not Be Not a pure spread like early Bills Not constant empty sets Not Allen freelancing every snap Not Miami’s quick-only timing offense It would be more violent and vertical. NFL Comparison Closest historical blends: 2023 Dolphins offense + Cam Newton’s physicality Shanahan offense with a nuclear-armed QB Early Mahomes concepts with more QB run Bottom Line If you put Josh Allen in Mike McDaniel’s offense, you’d get: Fewer wasted plays More explosives by design Higher efficiency and higher ceiling An offense that forces defenses to defend every blade of grass It would almost certainly be a top-2 offense, and in some years, flat-out unfair. 1 2 2 1 Quote
ClemsonBills Posted January 20 Posted January 20 You really asked AI for help with this? Would be a fun offense, but come on 😂 3 Quote
GoBills808 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 would love McDaniel as OC tbh i think the offense would be 'violent and vertical' as you say but i also think him and allen would make a hilarious duo 3 1 Quote
Low Positive Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Just now, ClemsonBills said: You really asked AI for help with this? Would be a fun offense, but come on 😂 It's funny. My tech-savvy kids are really skeptical of AI, while the old guys on here treat it like it's the word of God. 4 Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I will say McDaniel impressed me this past season in that his players all kept playing hard for him until the very end. I would be tempted to give him a shot here as HC and pair him with some old crusty retread to run the D. 1 Quote

Sweats Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I'd take McDaniel as an OC for sure........HC, not so much. 1 Quote
Sojourner Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I asked the same question to AI about myself and it gave me very similar answers. Now AI doesn’t know that much about me but I thought I’d share. 5 Quote
0017 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 At least Mike McD can use speed to kill defenses! A WR who runs a 4.6 won’t be drafted, I’m sick of slow untalented WR on this team!! Let’s give Mike a shot!! Why not?!? Quote
BuffaloBillyG Posted January 20 Posted January 20 People that want McDaniel as OC really don't watch a lot of Dolphin games and it shows. If you guys think Brady calls dumb plays at dumb times...I got some real bad news about McDaniel. 1 Quote
ElMarko Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Why do we need McDaniel? It’s all laid out there in black and white! Just have the next OC implement the plan. He’s a d-nozzle in the building anyway. Quote
JohnBonhamRocks Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Now do a prompt with McDaniel and “leader of men” 1 Quote
Julio Hopkins Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I think McDaniel is the best choice to lead the offense regardless of role. You wouldn't need to make any changes to the run game and he would elevate the passing game to another level. I seriously believe that Shakir would take a massive step in his offense, McDaniel and his mentor Shanahan are masters of getting guys in open space. I'm not interested in another season of Brady's big bodied blocking receivers that are supposed to win 50/50 balls in tight coverage. 1 Quote

He cares way too much about being liked. 1 Quote

harmonkillebrew Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I like it! Bring him in as OC. I think we need to move on from Brady Quote
