In the aftermath of the McD firing … I find it laughable that one of the sentiments is that we need an offensive minded HC to pair with JA17.

Does anyone not realize that last season we scored more points than anyone in the league, with crap receivers, in the “every body eats” year… and this year we were once again one of the highest scoring teams in the league … who just put up 30 points per game, on the road, against excellent defenses, in the playoffs, with crap receivers …. And the same OC both years?!?!?!

We need an emotionally cold CEO Head Coach, whose Defenses will not constantly wilt at the wrong time in the playoffs … that Josh can feel comfortable with and trust and not have to constantly feel he needs to play the perfect game out of his ass to win

I don't understand this fascination with Klint Kubiak, or some other "up and coming offensive genius"

I think it is because great DCs are easier to find than great OCs.  But more importantly, great OCs are way more likely to be lost to an another team’s HC search than a DC.  It helps with continuity to have your HC as your great offensive mind that won’t leave for a promotion somewhere else.

But, the same offense returned this year with some tweaks to those wide receivers and put the defense in repeatedly bad situations in the most crucial game of the year. By obtaining an offensive minded head coach, and putting in place a top level defensive coordinator, that builds upon a strength and actually will sharpen the iron on the other side too.

i’m not saying that’s what they’ll do, but I won’t be mad if they do.

The offense only put the D in a bad situation once where the D rose up and did their job.  That was after the strip sack when the D held the Bronco's to a FG.  Cooks fumble and the 1st Allen INT gave Denver the ball at around the Bronco 30 - 35 yard line, hardly a bad situation.  The OT INT gave the Bronco's the ball at their own 20 again hardly a bad situation.  Denver also scored on long TD drives right before the half and right before the end of the game.

The act that the O screwed up with to many TO's doesn't absolve the D from what was by any measure a pretty bad game.

The Bills are in a way more advantageous position than they were 9 years ago. Yes, this job comes with pressure. It also comes with the best player in football. The Bills job opened up and 2 teams immediately filled their vacancies. Teams don’t want their candidates to get a wandering eye. The Bills must get it right but they should have their pick of the candidates.

And the next coach will be the last Bills coach to have "the best player in football". Gotta get this right (obviously).

Great point. They have 1 chance to do this. Hopefully they have the plan identified and execute on it.

I’ll give them this, they were extremely thorough in their QB evaluations prior to landing on Josh. This hire requires a similar type of execution. There are lots of good candidates. They will have lots of interested people. They just need to get the best of that group (whomever that may be).

Personally, I want to see the Bills score 45 ppg which I think that they can do with Josh Allen, a creative offensive minded coach, and a really good corps of wide receivers.

It also seems clear that to make sure that the Bills don't lose to games to referees, or to the NFL with its thumb on the scales, or just to horrible karma, the Bills need to win blowouts.    Close games just aren't going to do the trick.   There's too much room for error.

Home field would help a lot with this imo…all these 50/50 calls or worse were missing out on in the playoffs seem to be on the road

Kubiak would be my choice because of his job with Seattle and his bloodlines. His offense was terrific with Darnold and you’d have to wonder how great he would be with Josh. If we didn’t take Klint, my next choice would be Brady. He was able to create an offense, without the benefit of a representative receiver room. The season that Cook had was a product of Brady’s offense. Dabol’s abject failure in NY scares me. He showed a disdain for the press and  didn’t enhance Brown’s career after a successful 1st season.

I’m with you a 100%. With Josh in his prime this offense will always be top 10/top 5.

we need the paid him with a stout defense. So I think we go defensive minded this route again

Problem is if you score 45, it means you have quick big play drives. Which means your defense is on the field the whole time. So they’ll probably be giving up 45 points on that side

Doesn't seem to be a great year for obvious choices for who to pursue as our new HC.  No interest in the retreads, including Daboll, and some of the available coordinators/assistants from other teams seem a bit inexperienced for this kind of a jump (i.e., Webb).  Will really want to know who any of these potential selections will bring as their coordinators and assistants.  That may be most critical piece of all of this.

We need a DC to just assume responsibility . I can't imagine Spagnolia tellling Reid "whoa slow up, your making my D look bad"

Scoring 38 outside in January is not going to happen in a divisional or championship round

All of what you said just proves how much the Bills fan base doesn't have a clue, they want to embolden & build up the strong parts of the team that being offense and screw the weak parts that they have been complaining about for the past 3 or so years .

I agree.  The one team I do worry about is the Raiders.  They have Mendozas entire career, no state income tax and great weather.   I feel a younger coach, like Kubiak, may view Vegas as a better option (as crazy as that may sound).

And yet, minus all of those turnovers, the Bills likely would have scored well over 38 points on Saturday.

Don't worry, the Raiders will screw it up and trade the #1 pick for Lamar Jackson. I really doubt Mendoza will be star anyway, he really isn't a much better prospect than Cam Ward.

She hasn’t reported any names yet but she says she will have them.

Need a whole day to figure out candidates?

If said meeting between HC, Gm, and Pegula happened, HC expressed his concern with the roster, and GM & owner were butt hurt, surely Bean & Pegula had of already discussed the firing. Candidates shouldve been nailed down for weeks….

Each candidate should have to spend an entire 'One Bills Live' with Brown, Tasker, Glab, and various phone in callers.  If they maintain their sanity and good humour, they advance in the process...
