Edmunds while not the playmaker we wanted....has the most INT's in the NFL at the linebacker position since he's been in Chicago. Shaq Thompson is a solid starting LB still. But the DL absolutely has been disappointing. Yeah and I wonder how much is it coaching versus talent? I tend to agree that the DL drafting hasn't been good enough, although I will say that Walker in year 2 with a healthy Ed Oliver and Rousseau, should be pretty solid and we'll find out if a different coach provides an entirely different approach to how the DL plays. The D was very assignment oriented and relied heavily on that integrity, but it also relied on every person executing correctly every play which is probably why it was prone to lapses that lead to big plays in the run game. Drop a bunch of guys into coverage instead, and force the receivers to make a play. It's the same result over and over - If you give quarterbacks the time they need to see the field, and give wideouts the time they need to get open, then you get torched. Agree, this was obvious on a few third and longs Denver converted Saturday. Rushing 4 and getting nowhere near the quarterback is a recipe for disaster. Sure it reduces the risk of a long touchdown but increases the risk of a first down. Mind numbingly frustrating at times. Quote
BuffaloBillsGospel2014 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 If the next head coach uses the term "complimentary football" like mcDermott preached in every interview I'm going to lose my *****. Quote
MikePJ76 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 (edited) i posted this yesterday but will again. Dion Dawkins gave up 9 pressures sunday...one with the help of shakir's mistake caused a fumble. The Broncos threw the ball 50 times, had no running game and were down two wr to injury since the start of the game and no lineman gave up more than 2 pressures and they had their third string center in a few times. Beane and Mcdermott failed for years to build a pass rush and it is more to blame for the team not winning a championship than anything. Players have left here and improved on the defensive line. Yes and this isn't just a stat line from one game, it was a consistent issue that could bite the Bills at any given time in headscratching regular season losses and almost always at some point in the post season.
