Real McCoy Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Thank you Sean McDermott for everything you started to build here. You will go on to be a solid coach somewhere else in the league. Damn... I need to figure out a new Screen name now. Quote
Since1981 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 He has $8M/yr and that means $25M+ he and his family are set for an excellent future. Tip: don’t wear those Oprah glasses ever again. Thank you!! Quote
BeastMaster Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I respect coach McDermott for the culture he built and how he had the respect of his players Best of luck moving forward to him Quote
BuffaloBillsGospel2014 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Great human, I appreciate him getting us out of that terrible drought, appreciate him and Beane taking the shot on drafting Allen even though half of the board wanted Rosen lol. I have no doubt he'll change the culture somewhere else but it was clear a change needed to happen unfortunately. Quote
machine gun kelly Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Thank you Coach. I’m 58, and you gave me something to be excited about for 9 years. So many critics either aren’t old enough or remember the pain of 17 years, or the 1982-86 Bills (the laughing stock of the NFL) and even so many years in the 70’s where we have a great O Line, and the most impactful RB in history arguably (let’s forget his character later in life) as I calculated his 1973 season and the first 2003 yarder in history was done in 14 games. I compared every RB including Dickerson, Jim Brown in. 12 game season and all the other 2000 yarders, and no one led the per game avg. My point is my entire life, I had the 10 years of the Jim Kelly bills, and the 9 years of McD has been the happiest times of my football life. I’m not a guy like Chandman or Old Time Fan that remember the 60’s Bills. I’m sure it was great. Quote
davefan66 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 (edited) Great man, great human being. Great coach. Thank you coach for changing the culture for this team. Bringing back winning to this franchise and elevating Buffalo with that. Wish him and his family nothing but the best. Edited January 19 by davefan66 2 Quote
The Jokeman Posted January 19 Posted January 19 McDermott changed this team from a mid level going nowhere to a preverbal playoff contender. He leaves us in a better place than where he started is about as good as we can ask except never getting that championship we wanted. I can only give him the most sincere clap I can to honor him. As to me he was the best coach this franchise has ever had. Sure Levy got us further but he didn't have the constraints of a salary cap and better players to play with. Lou Saban got us AFL Championships sure but smaller league and think much easier to win then vs now. 1 Quote
HomeTeam Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Thank you coach. This part of the NFL always saddens me.. He won't be unemployed long and rightfully so. I wish him and his family nothing but success. God bless. Quote
Magox Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I'll always be grateful for what he did for this franchise, he turned it around and he turned it around without Josh Allen. He was part of the process that brought him in, he turned the culture around, he is a leader of men and he understood the city of Buffalo. I wish we could have gotten a Superbowl not just for us or Josh Allen but even for McDermott. I am sure he will always love his experience he had with the Bills but he will always look back with a bit of regret that he wasn't able to get over the hump. Quote
Billsfed1 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Wish they got one for him, no doubt deserves one like Allen. Quote
Stampede Posted January 19 Posted January 19 In my opinion, McDermott's strength was in team-building and fostering a winning mindset. He possessed high character, but left a lot of questions in my mind concerning his gameday coaching ability and team mental preparedness. I feel that he did improve his gameday coaching, but I still questioned his ability to mentally prepare the team for every game. I felt that team talent and coordinator strategy were most responsible for the winning seasons. I've always remained optimistic and feel bad that he wasn't able to get it done, but it was time. Maybe he will stay as defensive coordinator (I doubt that, there are plenty openings available for him). I wish the best for him and his family always. Quote
Fixxxer Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Great man and great coach, unfortunately he couldn't win it all with us. I understand the move, but I hate that he couldn't be they guy to bring us the Lombardi Trophy... Wherever he goes, I wish him all the success he deserves. Quote
Nephilim17 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Good human being and good culture guy. Just didn't back up his "defensive mastermind" tag in the playoffs when it mattered. You don't get 15 years of a first-ballot HOF QB to change that. Good luck to him, but this team, this fan base and Josh need a new leader and direction. Quote
HOUSE Posted January 19 Posted January 19 1 hour ago, BillMafia716ix said: McDermott will be hired asap. Probably to Pittsburgh or Cleveland. Teams with already strong defense. Nobody in their right mind picks Cleveland. If McDermott takes that job his coaching days are over With dad's help Sanders will pee all over him Quote
Artful Dodger Posted January 19 Posted January 19 To date, his greatest coaching accomplishment was getting the Bills to the playoffs with Tyrod Taylor as quarterback in his first year as coach. That was a truly impressive achievement. Quote
eSJayDee Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Thank you Sean. Great man full of integrity & compassion. One certainly can't fault his passion & effort. In some respects, you couldn't ask for a better coach. 1 Quote
skibum Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Thanks TF for starting this thread. The Bills were a joke before McDermott arrived. He transformed the team into a perennial contender, thereby transforming the fan experience. Remember when we just assumed we would lose in embarrassing fashion every week? Now, I watch every game knowing that the Bills are probably going to win, even when the cards are stacked against us. He gave us some of the most exciting games, and seasons, in team history. Thank you Sean, I'm sorry it had to end this way, and I hope you get the championship you deserve some day. Quote
Matt_In_NH Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Integrity, work ethic, leader, great man, proud he was our coach. Wish him nothing but the best. 1 Quote
machine gun kelly Posted January 19 Posted January 19 One last thing. Thanks Coach McDermott. You have been true blue Buffalo all the way! God bless you're family, and I’m sure you’ll be the HC somewhere in a heartbeat. 1 1 Quote
