NewEra Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I appreciate McD. I’ll miss him. He’s a great person and a good HC. I hope he lands in the nfc somewhere. 2 1 1 Quote
Einstein Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Can we please keep this thread McD positive please without mentions his faults? Plenty of other threads for that. Thank you coach McD. You were hired when we were an abomination of a franchise and you delivered 5 AFC East Titles, and brought us to 2 AFC Championship games. You were a great leader, good human, and defended our region fiercely. Im sorry our owner is an idiot. Best of wishes and I will genuineness your steadying presence. 4 Quote
Cash Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I’m gonna miss that guy. Easily the second best Bills coach of my fan lifetime. 1 Quote
Chugga Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I think Sean McDermott in one way or another was responsible for our playoff exits every single year other than this one. (Sorry Josh, love you but too many turnovers). Of course the one time I don’t put blame on Sean is the year he’s gone. That being said this regime has seemingly ran its course. It’s time for a change and I endorse it. Will forever be thankful for McDermott making me “billieve” again. He ended the drought that haunted me from high school through adulthood and into marriage. Thank you Sean 1 Quote
Chandler#81 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Thank you Sean -and family! This really sucks for all involved and all who follow the team. Something had to change with the teams’ prospects. It’s just sad that you must go. Thank you for all you done for the team and community! You are a success. Believe it! 1 Quote
T.E. Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Great man, good coach. Made the Bills respectable again. Became a bit too stubborn in his ways, but we've probably all made that mistake in certain parts of life. Quote

He deserves a ton of respect for that. He carried the ball from their own 10, 85 yards down the field. He just wasn’t the guy to take it into the end zone. …..so we are going back to the 10. Good luck. We are not done for this season because McD wasn’t good enough. 1 1 Quote
tomur67 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Yes, he is a good coach, but it was Josh that elevated the Bills from the bottom of the barrel. Quote

Since 2020 in the playoffs in our elimination games we've given up: 33 points - 0 sacks - 1 INT 32 points - 2 sacks - 0 INT 27 points - 0 sacks - 0 INT 27 points - 1 sack - 0 INT 42 points - 2 sacks - 0 INT 38 points - 1 sack - 0 INT That’s his resume. That’s what his defense did in the biggest moments. Those were the shots at the end zone. He’s Tony Dungy and Dwayne Casey. He played an important role in getting you to the doorstep but someone else has to carry it into the end zone. He had 8 tries. 1 Quote
Success Posted January 19 Posted January 19 He changed the culture here, and brought us a lot of wins. I wish him nothing but the best & hope things work out w/ his next gig (as long as he's in the NFC). Thank you, coach. Quote
DC Greg Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I’ve called for his firing for several years now. He was still a good coach and a good representative for Buffalo. Even with all his playoff F ups, we still had a great run with him at the helm. Thankful. Quote
dhgold Posted January 19 Posted January 19 A plausible case can be made that given what he had to work with, McDermott was the best in Bills history. (Marv Levy had many more Pro Bowlers and future Hall of Famers than McDermott.) While I've often thought that McDermott would ultmately be judged as very good but not good enough, I fear that his replacement won't be as good as he was. I wish we'd gone after Belichick two years ago. Quote

McDermott is a very solid coach but unfortunately the window closed. With that said, he bled Buffalo and you could tell in his core he wanted nothing more than to get a SB in Buffalo. He’s one of the best coaches in franchise history, created a winning culture and got the franchise turned around. Just couldn’t lead them to where expectations are! I hope he lands on his feet and I have nothing but respect for the job he did and how he carried himself. I wish him and his entire family the very best! I agree, he did a very good job here and changed the culture after the 17 year drought of bad football. It is time for a new voice to lead the Bills. Quote
BillsPride12 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 He broke the drought and made the Bills a respected organization again. Will always be grateful and appreciative for Sean McDermott's time here Quote
Dinoman Posted January 19 Posted January 19 (edited) I want to thank McDermott from the bottom of my heart. You are a truly good man coach. You gave the Bills life again. You gave me hope. You are the best coach the Bills ever had and Thisnis NOT RIGHT. I have nothing but love for you. The league screwed us all over and over and over again and that is not your fault. You deserve much better than this and should have been able to leave on your own terms. i wish you nothing but the best and I hope you win a SB. You deserve it. A lot more than any of these other A holes who win them. I just hope it’s In the NFC. Edited January 19 by Dinoman Quote
Woodman199 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Good person, good coach, good culture guy. He will be a head coach for a long time around the league. 1 Quote
RichRiderBills Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I think he was a a great guy and a solid coach. I really appreciate him and wish things had been different. I struggle with this one, because Josh's turnovers this time were clearly the big difference. Thought he actually coached really well this year. As I said, i guess i understand...but i wish things had been different. He's a good one. Quote
