Alphadawg7 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Biggest name is obviously Belichick, and I do think he is a realistic candidate. A guy high on my list and said it all year is Flores. But if I had to pick 4 that I think are the most likely choices, I think its BB, Brady, Flores, and Kubiak. As much as everyone wants to say it needs to be offensive, well despite the deficiencies at WR, this offense just scored 30 points in the loss again and gave up over 33 points again. Don't be so sure it will be offensive, I can very much see them go defensive with BB or Flores here too. If I was to put a wager on it - Belichick. And hopefully if that is the case, he can lure Josh from NE here too as the OC. 1 2 1 Quote

LEBills Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I want an offensive coordinator, and I want one who has connections in the league so he can bring in an experienced coaching staff. Klint Kubiak may be able to supply that with the relationships he and his Dad have in the league. Maybe Mike Lafleus since he can poach from the Rams and 49ers staff. Im prepared for Joe Brady which could be worse. I’m not sure he has been in the NFL long enough to fill out his coaching staff with good coaches. worst case would be Daboll. I just don’t think he has the temperament to be a good HC. Ok OC. 3 Quote
JimBob2232 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 You really should never let the players pick the coach...but if ever there was a time to do it....i'd desperately want Josh's buy-in here. That relationship is the top concern IMO. I dont have a prefernece, frankly. As a penn state fan, i feel very similar about the firing of McDermott and James Franklin. Loved them both. Thrilled with the success they had. Great people. Didnt win the big game - and I understand why they had to go - but Sadness is the general emotion. And im not sure either will be better off for it in the long run (though Matt Campbell seems to be a great fall-back option in PSU's case - hope Buffalo can land their "Matt Campbell" - whoever that is.... 1 Quote

He's a solid coach, but his #1 skill has been portal recruiting, not really a skill required in the pros. To reference a question cignetti got at the Indiana press conference on how he plans to recruit Something along the lines of " I'll tell them to Google me, then they will see all I do is win" 1 Quote

At the very least, he’s in the tier with guys like Johnson, Shanahan and McVay. He’s an absolute ego maniac. If you offered him a giant check AND a chance to coach Josh Allen, maybe he says yes. It’s a long shot but what a home run that would be. YOU NEED TO MAKE THE CALL 💯 so it’s time to manifest this Mafia. I’ve already begun 2 Quote
BearNorth Posted January 19 Posted January 19 The only Bills coach who has won an end of the year title was named Saban. There's a pretty good Saban not on the sidelines right now. He is an offensive guru. Quote
Magox Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I’ll be honest: I am absolutely floored that they actually fired McDermott. I thought his job was safe. He coached this team remarkably well this year and, in my eyes, they significantly overperformed expectations. While I’ve been a massive Brandon Beane supporter in the past, if anyone should be gone, it’s him. The failure to produce a consistent pass-rushing unit, the loss of Ingraham (the Slay debacle still stings), and the total mismanagement of the WR position—including failing to land a true threat at the deadline—was terrible. But what’s done is done. We are looking for a new leader. Do we go with a proven vet, a college riser, or a hot-name coordinator? Here is how I’m breaking down the candidates: The Proven Commodities (Seasoned Vets) Mike Tomlin: He is a true "leader of men." He would immediately command the room and stabilize the operation. My only concern is if he’s "dynamic" enough for today’s NFL; he would need a home-run hire at OC to make this work. Bill Belichick: The GOAT knows how to run a defense and manage an organization. His leverage is down, so he might not demand the total control that got him in trouble in New England. Give him a top-level QB like Josh and he’s dangerous. The risk? Is he too stubborn? Does he bring in a bad OC? Has the game passed him by? Bruce Arians: He’s won a ring and knows how to build a winning culture. He’d have instant respect. But would he even want to come back? And like Belichick, you have to wonder if the game has evolved past his style. The Dynamic Offensive Minds Mike McDaniel: He is undeniably dynamic and beloved by players. He’d bring a run-heavy but explosive passing scheme. My question isn't the X’s and O’s; it’s whether he is the "leader of men" this specific roster needs right now. Klint Kubiak (Seahawks OC): Elite pedigree. What he did with Seattle this year—leading them to a Top 3 offense with a roster that shouldn't be Top 3—was marvelous. He overperformed, but can a great coordinator transition to being the "CEO" of the team? Mike LaFleur (Rams OC): Coming from the McVay tree, he just led the #1 offense in the NFL. He’s creative and high-pedigree, but we’ve seen great OCs fail as HCs before. Is he ready to lead the whole building? The Defensive Mastermind Jesse Minter (Chargers DC): He runs that "Mike Macdonald" style of defense that is taking over the league. The Chargers' defense was elite this year. He’s young, energetic, and a National Champion (Michigan '23). He’d remake our defense entirely, but the "first-time HC" risk is there. Brian Flores: He brings a definite toughness and an aggressive defensive identity. The Buffalo OC job is the most attractive vacancy in the league, so he could get a great staff, but is his "grating/confrontational" style too much baggage? Has he learned from his past player-relation issues? My Final Take If I'm Brandon Beane (or whoever is making the calls), I’m bringing in this group for interviews immediately: Mike McDaniel Bill Belichick Bruce Arians (if he's open to it) Klint Kubiak Mike LaFleur Jesse Minter Take it from there and find the guy who can finally maximize Josh's window. Go Bills. 3 1 1 1 Quote
