I can't help but wonder if Josh had a say in this

no chance. Josh will never be the guy to throw a coach under the bus. You can tell the way he was raised is that he holds himself completely accountable to the team’s shortcomings.

I've often wondered how often McD and Beane clashed on philosophy. How many times did Beane pass on a player because he wasn't a choir boy or was in the "diva" mold?

But my bet is Beane is a dead man walking, ala Whaley in 2017.

Wrong guy.

This team isn’t going to win anything in years.

His in game management has held the Bills back so it is the right move.    Now just have to see if Beane is also going to be let go.

so, I wonder… did McDermott know he was going to be fired right after the game and he decided to unload on the officials afterwards (in the postgame presser and on the team plane via that one phone call) for that reason?  That was REALLY out of character for him.

this text is from Joe Marino

Yeah.  I hate it.  I'd have done Beane first and then McD next year.  I really, really hate this.

If they don’t fire Beane I won’t be watching another game next season. This year wasn’t on McDermott, it’s all Beane

You are right, he needs to go as well but in the end McD's lasting achievement was a good and steady team culture. That was it. That's just not enough!! His defense never got it done, he made some of the worst in game decisions of any coach at this level in the NFL and his last two OC picks were awful. Nice guy for sure but never was going to get us over the hump.
