Literally any of us idiots around here could whiff on years of draft picks and sign washed-up free agents to bad contracts. 

 

History will eventually prove what many of us have been saying for years — Beane is not a good GM.

At this point I think you scapegoat beane (and possibly even McD) just to pump some life back into this team and the fans. There can’t be one guy in that lockeroom, and certainly in the crowd, that believes we have the answers already. If we did, we would have made the Super Bowl in this run at least once. We haven’t even done that.

I do think Beane's philosophy of the last game of the season telling you what you are bad at is a bit short sighted in this way.

 

It causes you to focus your entire off season strategy on the outcome of a single match up, when by definition you getting into the playoffs is based on your ability to succeed in the vast majority of matchups over the course of a season in a match up league...ignoring all of that data and basing it off a single data point
