Walking Tall Posted January 18 Posted January 18 (edited) If they decide to move on from him it had better be today. I doubt if it will be. However, I do think Beane will be shown the door and they will elevate either Gaine or Gray to GM. Edited January 18 by Walking Tall 2 1 1 Quote
T.E. Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I've been a "fire McDermott" guy for a few years, but he did a good job with the team this season. I like him as a person, and I like his philosophy on team-building and life in general. I want him to be the coach if we finally do win it all. That being said, do I think he's the guy to do it? My gut says "no." Much more ambivalent about this question than I was even two months ago. Glad it's not my decision to make. 11 6 1 2 Quote
schoolhouserock Posted January 18 Posted January 18 If there was someone else out there that made sense, I could be swayed to choose ‘fire’’. I like McD and appreciate what he has done. He is closely following his mentor’s lead. Reid lost big games over and over in Philly. Maybe McD will finally win it all at his next stop? My problem is that I look at the potential candidates and I do not have confidence that any of them could get the job done any better than McD. Ugh. Therefore I chose to retain. 2 4 4 Quote
boyst Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I've been team fire since 13 seconds. His performance as a coach was inexcusable. We are 2 years in by admitted retool but I think it's 3 years. 2026 is headed to be an even weaker roster than the last two years unless we get rookies to really turn out. They don't on this team or complicated defense. It takes 2 years. New regime at this point resets us at least 2 more years. Pathetic we kept Ginger McDumbass this long. 3 1 1 6 2 Quote

Andrew Son Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I think he’s a good coach that I would like to keep. Unfortunately I think Josh is broken and probably needs a new voice to build back up his confidence. Some cocky SOB like A Ben Johnson personality. Can’t run it back IMO 4 2 Quote
Kirby Jackson Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I don’t expect him to go anywhere. I think he did a pretty decent job this year. He 100% should be fired. They’ve gone FAR too long with status quo. The results are the same every year with new excuses. It’s time for someone else to see if they can take the next step. It’s Dwayne Casey to Nick Nurse. It’s Tony Dungy to Jon Gruden. This is Sean’s ceiling and we can’t afford to give it more years to confirm that. The window is closing 4 12 Quote
Since1981 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 (edited) They need some form of change. I think they’re at a crossroads. Beane McDermott need a new voice in the rooms. Great work so far but a new voice is needed. Edited January 18 by Since1981 2 Quote
Greg S Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Clean house but I know Pegula will run it back with these two 1 Quote
BillsFan130 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 His first half defensive game plan was just awful today. And of course can't get a stop when it was 27-23. Good overall coach, but it's time for a change 3 1 Quote
JohnnyCash Posted January 18 Posted January 18 My biggest complaint with McD…if you are going to have a defensive guru as your HC, can they at least have a dominating defense(see houston and seatlle). This soft bend but don’t break defense SUCKS! 😡 2 8 Quote
BuffaloBillyG Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I choose retain. There are a few coaches out there this year that I'd be interested in. But if I'm firing anyone, it's Brandon Beane. I'm giving McDermott one season under the new GM. I'd let that GM make his assessment following next year. 5 6 Quote

Coffeesforclosers Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Kromer leaving like his ass was on fire is what did it for me. He was handpicked and created exactly the run game and Oline that McD wanted. 1 1 Quote
