Special K Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Salary Cap Hell be damned......at this point, the likelihood that the Bills will win multiple Super Bowls with Josh Allen is lowering by the year. It may be time to "Mortgage the Future" for a shot to win just one dang Super Bowl. I honestly don't see Josh Allen playing until he is 40.....when these seasons end in such heartbreaking fashion, I sometimes worry Josh will pull an Andrew Luck and retire earlier then we would expect. He could retire right now and still be a first-ballot Hall of Famer....he's got all the money in the world, an actress wife, and now a kid on the way......how much longer will he want to put his body on the line for his seasons to end in such horrible ways?? I think the Bills have 3-5 years left to win a Super Bowl with Josh Allen......time to do whatever it takes to make that happen..... 1 11 1 Quote
billieve420 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Need to stop scraping by with older players past their primes especially on defense. Go with youth movement and force McDermott to show he can coach up that side of the ball to be at a minimum average. Load up on offense and stop putting it all on Allen to play super hero. 2 1 Quote

We probably need to not do much in 2026 and let the bad contracts fall off. (#1 reason Beane needs to go.) Then in 2027 you would have cap space to do what you are saying. Quote
BillsFanForever19 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 That's a nice thought. But we've got *so many holes* and even with a "managed cap" - we still won't be able to restructure enough to fill them and upgrade them all. Quote
Comebackkid Posted January 18 Posted January 18 what do we have left to go all in with?..... what do we have left to mortgage? Quote

Injuries screwed us again, so we had to plug in these nearly washed up former heroes. Also, we probably win that game with a healthy Poyer. Quote
Sojourner Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Sadly we are staring in the face of another season where fans are going to be asking and begging for the same things as the one that we are just removed from. WR. Draft trade up or trade sourced from the league. And an actual pass rusher that isn’t another rotational guy. I’m all for mortgaging the future. Especially now. Entertain Max Crosby trade. Sign George Pickens AND Alec Pierce if you can. Sign Kenneth Murray. Quote
transplantbillsfan Posted January 18 Posted January 18 -Year 9 for Josh as he begins his 30s -Peyton Manning won a Super Bowl year 9, age 30. Made it to zero before that point. He won 2 and is an all time great -John Elway won 2 Super Bowls year 15 & 16. All time great -Matthew Stafford won a Super Bowl in year 13 at age 33. Soon to possibly win another...all time great. Josh is already a HOFer, but I hate the thought of him going in like Warren Moon or Dan Marino. Whether we fire Beane/McDermott or keep them, it's all about creating the best situation/roster/team for 2026. We need a team that can deal with a B- Josh Allen game like we got today. Our 2025 team was only ever making the Super Bowl with a B+ to A+ game from him... and maybe B+ is being generous. There's a lot to do, but considering our roster prioritizing WR is job # 1, 2 & 3. After that, I think we should let McGovern walk and let SVPG take his place. Extend Edwards instead. Get Knox, Tre, Shaq and/or Milano back on team friendly deals and prioritize those positions of the guys who don't come back. I also kinda hope Brady leaves and Daboll comes back... but I'm on the fence about that. Regardless, time to stop @#%$ing around using the salary cap as an excuse. I expect a big move in the offseason via trade or FA. Seeing Josh at that podium was heartbreaking and unacceptable. Get it done Pegula/Beane/McDermott!!! 1 Quote
Heavy Kevi Posted January 18 Posted January 18 100% I have been on the fire everyone, burn it down wagon for a couple years. The last 2 years I have had basically no hope for the team, no expectations going into each season. It just feels old and stale with Beane and McD. Obvious flaws. Bad roster management. Yes men coordinators. Then of course this time of year I get sucked in and hope for a SB... Then I get reality checked when the heartbreak hits. But this upcoming year I totally agree with the OP. If the current regime stays, I don't want to hear about "sustained success", responsible cap management, or anything of the like... I want URGENCY. Build a roster and coach like you NEED to win now. Make the trade, sign the big name, shake up the coordinators. Whatever it takes to get Josh a championship. Everyone's continued employment and relative "success" is a direct result of that unicorn who wears #17. Act like it and give him some gosh dern help ffs! 1 Quote

Dibs Posted January 18 Posted January 18 We could have done that 5 years ago, won a few rings, and be out of a rebuild right about now. In the NFL, slow and steady only works if you shoot the hare. Quote

If anything we overachievied. Everything had to be schemed for success, we never win these games with just raw blue chip talent Quote

McDermotts defense has failed miserably every playoffs, yet you want him to show he can coach up younger, inexperienced players to not get exposed in the playoffs? This is straight madness 1 Quote

BillMafia716ix Posted January 18 Posted January 18 You trade for a proven vet WR. Then you draft another WR in the draft. Gotta have somebody that can command double teams and who can win consistently on 3rd down. Quote

All the draft picks they’ve invested in on defense the last two drafts, haven’t been able to stay on the field. They’ve been wanting to go with young guys. Edited January 18 by BillMafia716ix Quote

How many games in this era has the team done exactly what it needed to do to lose the game, no more and no less? Certainly the last few playoff losses. It’s preposterous for how much went wrong that they still would have won the game but for another new-in-the-history-of-football rules interpretation and subsequent getting penaltied down the field for the loss.
