"This was a game for the ages and a defining moment in Allen's career."

Allen was at his very best against the Jaguars, showing patience when needed and making splash plays like only he can.  Highlights:

Opening drive-- Pass to Cooks for 1st down was a perfectly executed down-and-out with a great read by Allen in seeing the corners switch coverage.

First FG drive-- Allen was patient and did not try to do too much and got the FG

First TD Drive-- 36-yard pass to Coleman was a perfect read by Allen of "trap technique" coverage by the Jags and finding Coleman in a soft spot in the zone in front of the safety.

Note-- Kubiak thinks call at end of first half that led to Jags FG attempt was effed up as time had expired.

Opening drive 3Q-- Allen pass to Shakir for a short gain to make FG attempt more manageable was another example of smart Josh, taking what was needed instead of getting greedy.

4thQ-- All of Allen's greatness on display with a 100% performance rating.  On first second half TD drive, 26-yard pass to Knox was a great play design and execution.  Likewise, the TD pass to Kincaid was great play and execution, as it looked like the Bills standard RPO screen which caused defenders to take bait and left Kincaid open for TD.

Final drive, an "epic" throw to Cooks for 36-yard gain, as Allen made an extraordinary throw in the face of a QB's greatest nightmare-- an unimpeded rusher coming straight at him.

Conclusion-- This game "was like watching all of [Allen's] unique qualities at one time in one game.  His physical toughness was unmatched, and he played flawlessly while being battered by a fierce Jag's defense..."

To quote Russell Crowe in Gladiator-- "Are you not entertained?"

That Josh got beaten and battered as he did and STILL finished with 80% completion, 3 touchdowns and no turnovers..

So glad the defense sealed the deal on the last drive cuz if he didn't get credit for that 4th quarter comeback it would have been an absolute travesty.

The pancake critic strikes again. He’s always flipping on Allen. “Stubborn and mistake prone” he labeled him recently.

Disagree.  Nothing is absolute.  Allen is a great player but not all his games are.  He is human and he has bad days and games.  Kubiak is a big fan of Allen, but when he plays not so good, he simply lays it out.

Yep. Anyone who still doesn't think it was legit to criticise him against the Eagles is just mad.

He was stubborn and mistake prone against Philly. He was the main reason we lost that game. Against the Jaguars he was at his amazing (and amazing in the truest sense of the word) best. He was overwhelmingly the reason we won. One doesn't make the other any less true.

It's just a fact that Allen creates half of his own problems in games. He is incredible, but he makes mistakes sometimes. And he consistently turns down easy completions in those games where he struggles. Luckily, he doesn't seem to do that in the playoffs. Even the best players in the league make mistakes and have bad games.

He’s said Allen is to blame for his injury, his head has been elsewhere in games and been stubborn, which to me is like saying he’s unconcerned and unwilling. I don’t know, maybe it’s me, but think it’s criticism that is a bit off the wall and inappropriate.

I was just reading a few rival boards where they're praying Allen loses in humiliating fashion because of all of the media "glazing." (will be pretty happy once that word is retired)

I mean....should he not be hyped a bit right now?  Dude carries an entire team & makes them a SB contender w/ a receiving corps that has 1 guy who would even make the top 3 on most good teams (being generous here).  He gets injured 3x in the Jags game and still puts the team on  his shoulders for a game-winning drive, yet again.

Sorry, opposing fans, that you don't like hearing people praise a great player.

It's going to be extremely tough.

Benford and White are both playing at an all pro level right now. They're both completely erasing the wrs

Similar to lester hayes and mike Haynes for the 83 raiders

Strong disagree. Josh is his own worst enemy. Most of the time he can overcome his self-induced damage but he needs to stop injuring himself and the team.

Historically as we all know, "Josh plays his very best in the playoffs" which translates exactly to "he is much more disciplined and doesn't take stupid chances."

His interception numbers go way down in the playoffs (one-third)... that's NOT because of the play of the offensive line or receivers.

No. It makes it sound like Josh is trying too hard.

Take the cape out only when it's necessary, please.

edit: And Kubiak has been EXTREMELY complimentary of Josh during his career.

Re: opposition community QB

If 17 were available, 29 teams would take him faster than they can say “jealousy”. My god we are lucky. We may not have a legit WR but we don’t have JP Losman either.

Again... even among those who occasionally critique Josh's play and point out his mistakes, nearly all of those people would agree:

  • We're blessed to have him.
  • He's the best QB in the league.
  • He's our favorite player of all-time.
  • There's no other quarterback that we'd rather have.
  • The failure of the Bills to win a Super Bowl is not on Josh.

That doesn't make him perfect and it doesn't place him above valid, deserved criticism.

The other irony about Josh Allen is that his "supporters" claim that he's being misused and that when you have a cannon, you fire it. These same people believe that he's incapable of playing a Tom Brady-type game.

That belief ignores the fact that in just 8 seasons, Josh already has 2 seasons with a higher completion percentage than Brady's best ever (68.9%) and that Josh's career completion percentage (64.0%) is virtually the same as Brady's (64.3%).

We've seen it with our own two eyes but don't seem to recognize that if he wanted to play the wrist-flick, dart-throwing horizontal game, he could do it better than anyone. I've seen Josh's "supporters" claim that he's not that accurate. Their claims are not accurate.

They also claim that because he's a great runner that the Bills should call designed runs for him.

To that belief, let me just say... be careful what you wish for.

The tough part is we almost always need a very good game from Josh to win.  They showed stats on CBS last Sunday showing Josh as #1 all time in playoff total yards per game & #1 all time in a couple other playoff stats.  Yet, he’s barely over.500 in playoff winning percentage because he has to play great every playoff game or we lose.  Compare that to CJ Stroud having 3 TOs in a road playoff game at Pittsburgh and his team still wins easily.

The reason many of us are so defensive of criticism of Josh is the asinine narrative that no Super Bowls (so far) define his career.  NO QB ever had a 2 game playoff stretch better than Josh did the 13 seconds postseason.  He absolutely deserved to be in the Super Bowl that season.

I’m believing that Josh will eventually get Buffalo a Super Bowl victory.  He deserves it as much as anyone!

Corrected below to address that concern:

Have faith brother.  What worked for McD last week is he showed one look for 15 seconds pre-snap, then when the headset is turned from coach to QB, he then adjust to a different look.  It will keep Nix questioning what he is seeing.  Thei is exactly what he did to Maye in the second Pats game.
