well, the narrative exists for a reason.  mcd has had his d, which he is known for, collapse while allen and the o put up big numbers and multiple heroic plays.  there is a strange element of the o just loosening up and being more exciting when we are down, often in games we win.

just this season we hit two 4th down hook and ladders, against top 3 Ds in the nfl in philly and houston, and in houston it was on 4th and 27 -- if that throw to the sidelines (was it davis or cooks?) gets hauled in we win that game.  we lost both of those games.  even tho the d played well overall in both of those losses this season, it get's viewed as great play by the o being squandered by mcd's d in many people's eyes.  we have so many awful playoff games on d, and those are the most watched games of the season every year outside of the superbowl, so that's what people have seen.

mcd is in a real position to re write the narrative on himself and his d over the next 2, 10, and 24 days.  3 wins, and especially 3 wins w some solid defensive performances will put mcd in rarified air.  just like josh allen has to keep to his standard of super play in the post season, mcd has to establish and maintain a standard of defensive excellence in the playoffs, even with the injuries and such.

Agree. I'm also coming around to him more this season. I don't have his nuts in my mouth like some do here, but I'm coming around. The bottom line is he has been at the center of why we don't have a ring. If he shows he can be a driver to getting one, I'm more than happy to change course on my opinions of him. Either way this has been his best year from my view.

Sean Peyton has a lower win percentage than McDermott

Sean Payton doesnt have Josh and has a Super Bowl... maybe McD is better... I dont see it... but then again... I am not turned into Denvers game like I am the Bills.

if he wins a chip this year you and i will have a food fight over sack space.  the mcd haters club would have an epic babyface turn for the ages.

Transcript from the Herd yesterday...

"The Matchups for this weekends NFL playoffs, here’s what I see.

I see Vrabel against DeMeco Ryans…

McVay against Ben Johnson…

Shanny, Mike MacDonald…

Sean Payton against…Josh Allen, let’s be honest.

In 7 of the 8, I see the coach."

This weekend is about the coaches...

Gotta live the eye-rolls.  Like McDermott has put together a juggernaut of a defense.  I guess some missed 13 seconds and the Jag's second to last drive.  We're damn lucky it was Trevor Lawerence and not Patrick Mahomes.  How'd the majority of games go this year until we loosened up the game plan and let Josh take over?

They have 2 high picks on there defense with Anderson and Stingley everyone else we could've drafted or signed ourselves. I was begging for the Bills to draft Pitre over Elam . Lassiter was drafted in the middle rounds of the draft . Al Shair and Hunter were free agent signings. Got to give credit to there GM and Ryans for building that monster defense.

All good points. I would be curious how involved Ryans has been in these signings.

by the way, re Pitre, he reminds me of Taron in his prime.

I mean it's not wrong.

It's the entire Denver Broncos organization vs Josh Allen

Last week it was all of Jacksonville vs Josh Allen.

And hopefully next week it will be the entire NE Pats organization vs Josh Allen

He's the whole franchise and everyone else is like that guy in the movies behind the hero, just yelling "yeah, get him"

JA did a helluva job not missing a FG and breaking up those passes...

That is lazy BS by Cowherd. Last time Peyton and Nix faced the Bills they managed just over 220 total yds of offense and scored a total of 7 points... what did that have to do with Josh Allen?

Not to mention those 2 WRs they drafted mid rounds? this year.

This isn't a slight on McD, this is statement on who Josh Allen is and how he thinks Allen is, which is the best player he has ever seen in NFL history play.  Everyone knows the only key to victory to Broncos is if they can stop the Josh Allen train.  Broncos struggle against Allen, their offense isn't going to keep pace.  So its all about can the Broncos slow Allen down or not as their only chance at a win is to keep the Bills scoring down as they won't win if we put up a typical 30+ game.  Right now, Josh Allen feels inevitable in these moments.

To me, this is all this comment is alluding too, and its really what its all about this weekend.

Davis Mills, Zach Wilson, Easton Stick and others tend to disagree as they've all had career days against the Bills.

But in all seriousness, I do agree. McD should be able to own a QB like Bo Nix. He did last year in our 31-7 routing. I'm expecting more of the same from McD/Babich.

Payton out-coached MCD in the 2023 regular season meeting and won with the hapless Russel Wilson at the helm, as McD made a few huge coaching blunders in that game. So dont get too cocky.

But I dont have much belief in Bo Nix so hoping we can repeat the 2024 playoff performance.

McD didn't get outcoached at that game, did you even watch it? Josh was a turnover machine with 2 Ints, and 1 fumble. Cook had a fumble too. 4 turnovers from your star players will usually lose you the game. And they still only lost by 2.
