We’re seriously short personnel, especially receiver. If the Chargers can find a way to beat NE, it puts us in Pittsburgh, which is easier than Denver. The game today with Jax was a bloodbath. We lost 3 guys minimum and our depth was nowhere to begin with.

The scars of 13 seconds run deep. The way the refs were calling the game some of you posters are right. I wouldn’t put it past the refs to call a phantom holding call or we could have false started , fumbled. I don’t know I expected us to stop them like that, but it does enforce the look of it being the right decision. Just glad it worked out, makes for a wonderful week.

Dude I can’t believe our coaches are so dumb.  To not call a kneel down there?

on the half yard line, 1 minute left, 3 time outs, their kicker can kick 80 yarders, and :13 seconds.

how how how do you make that mistake!?!?!?

you TAKE A KNEE.  KILL :40 seconds.  THEN you have 3 plays with 3 TOs to use to get the TD with lat most, :15 seconds left.   DUH DUH DUH DUH

we won but that dumb decision could easily cost us the game AND, will likely cost us next week!

gosh the complete lack of awareness and feel for how a game is going just drives me NUTS!!!!!

Just goes to show you.   No matter what happens, even in a well coached game, there’s always gonna be a doofus post here on this message board calling for McDermotts head.

You dont have to lose yards taking a knee.

Just fall forward. Burn 40 sec of clock and you still have 3 chances from less than a yard

Crap happens in the nfl. Fumbled snaps. False starts. Holding calls. Fumbles. Generally, you should always score the td when you can. The OP is wrong.

Ideally yes, but this isn’t ideally. It’s the NFL and nothings guaranteed! Lose yards, false start, botched snap and you’re screwed!

Score a FN TD and win the game which BTW they did!

Yeah, take a knee and lose yards against number 1 run defence in the NFL

Good thinking

Or have a false start. You take the points there when you can.

I don't think this post is going the way you intended. It's not too late to delete it.

You weigh your options.

1- score, go up by 3, and give the ball to the Jags who have a kicker with the strongest leg in NFL history with a minute to go and hope they don’t tie it.

2- Dive down, call a time out with 20 seconds left, and have 3 tries from the half yardline.

Personally, I believe option 2 gives you the best chance to win and I would imagine the odds would heavily favor option 2.

Regardless, they won and the coaching staff, in my opinion, deserve kudos today.

Yes, he did. Now what did I say that isn’t true? He’s a true weapon.

just factoring that into the odds. his long leg means kicking from 60 plus yards. but his accuracy wasn't great today, so distance may not have been the deciding thing. he was never going to be kicking an easy FG

They won so it shows option 1 was the best option. I’m not sure what point you and the OP are trying to make?

That drove me nuts.  They allowed us to score to give them time.

Have Allen take a knee at the 1 inch line.  Drain the block to about 10 seconds left….we had 3 time outs.

Bill Cower agrees with me.

they had timeouts.

I was ok with the replay giving the 1st on the 1 but…. Doing half way dives hoping to avoid injury/penalty/fumble on something you don’t practice feels risky when you must get 4 points

The OP is correct though.  Idiots for not killing clock.
