Oh man how DUMB.  Tre white  saved McDermotts job. !!!!

Dude I can’t believe our coaches are so dumb.  To not call a kneel down there?

on the half yard line, 1 minute left, 3 time outs, their kicker can kick 80 yarders, and :13 seconds.

how how how do you make that mistake!?!?!?

you TAKE A KNEE.  KILL :40 seconds.  THEN you have 3 plays with 3 TOs to use to get the TD with lat most, :15 seconds left.   DUH DUH DUH DUH

we won but that dumb decision could easily cost us the game AND, will likely cost us next week!

gosh the complete lack of awareness and feel for how a game is going just drives me NUTS!!!!!

All the people downvoting is only because he got away with it. Jacksonville let us score because they knew it was their only chance. He’s just not very bright and or has way too much faith in a beat up defense. If we were healthy on defense I don’t think Jacksonville is in it at the end but we are where we are.

One problem with your approach.

if you fail scenario 1, for whatever reason, you lose.
If you fail scenario 2, the game is tied.

These aren’t equivalent outcomes.

Prater almost missed the extra point. The odds of winning the game were harmed by giving the defense what they wanted and scoring immediately

I thought about this for a while. I see both sides.

That being said, I think McD made the right decision.

1 procedural penalty and you’re at the 5. One hold and you’re at the 10.

The score is not guaranteed.

But it’s also not guaranteed on first down. Those penalties could occur on first down…..and almost NEVER on a glorified kneel down

That drove me nuts.  They allowed us to score to give them time.

Have Allen take a knee at the 1 inch line.  Drain the block to about 10 seconds left….we had 3 time outs.

Bill Cower agrees with me.

It's not a video game. Not that easy to do.

Lawrence played terribly today, far worse than the box score. The fear of this failing requires thinking that he’s suddenly going to figure it out and march down the field. It was the right call.

Yeah, take a knee and lose yards against number 1 run defence in the NFL

Good thinking

Jacksonville gave us the TD because they knew it was their only chance. Thank god we stopped them.

I feel like you could argue it either way. Our defense has a tendency to play strong at the end. It's not the first time they have shut down a passing game - sometimes after playing much worse than today. There is a psychological component to going for the win and trusting your team and in this case it paid off. As someone else pointed out, if you lose yards diving, you could get a penalty or even fumble somehow. No TD, no win... it worked.

You lose one yard at most. Then you have 3 downs to get two yards. There's no real argument here. It was an egregious mistake that they got away with.

Except there is an argument and the person that has the most important vote bet the other side, putting the pressure on Trevor, and got paid off ON THE FIRST DEFENSIVE PLAY.

? The hell? We won! Who cares.

You know you don’t have to post if you don’t want to discuss the game.

I think it was probably the right call.  You absolutely cannot take knees and lose yardage and your qb diving into a pile at the goal line intentionally short a few times is gonna open him up to getting hit by everybody and is a pretty big fumble risk

if the execution wasn’t perfect and that sneak started getting closer to a full yard Jax keeps getting better and better odds to stop the one that matters

Yeah,  that's a consideration as well.  The Bills got hands on at least half a dozen passes today.  He was making some really questionable choices at times.

Or they liked the odds.

Truth s nobody knows the counter factual. We only know what happened. And what happeed is we were right and they were wrong.

Im putting my entire house on Allen getting in.  It worked so I won’t complain but I do think the smarter move was to drain the clock.

They need just two first downs and they’re in FG range with Kicker God.

This is true, but it’s fun to discuss while we enjoy this incredible victory. Josh is one tough SOB!!!!

I wouldn’t take a knee but would have told Allen to dive and give himself up short. That could have cost team with Parker having big leg and plenty of time. Thankfully, Lawrence ended game with pick.

Take a knee? No. Dive forward for a half yard or no gain? Possibly. But it is risky to tempt the football gods and get too cute there, honestly.
