To not call a kneel down there? on the half yard line, 1 minute left, 3 time outs, their kicker can kick 80 yarders, and :13 seconds. how how how do you make that mistake!?!?!? you TAKE A KNEE. KILL :40 seconds. THEN you have 3 plays with 3 TOs to use to get the TD with lat most, :15 seconds left. DUH DUH DUH DUH we won but that dumb decision could easily cost us the game AND, will likely cost us next week! gosh the complete lack of awareness and feel for how a game is going just drives me NUTS!!!!! Hey *****, I understand the thought process. But just too many things could go bad. A 5 yd procedure penalty Fumble Concussion slip and lose 2 yds. I’ve seen all those things happen on goal line qb sneaks. 1 Quote
SC STATE NUPE Posted January 11 Posted January 11 NO!!! What if you get a false start or holding penalty?!!! You get your points and lean on your defense. It worked out fine! 1 1 1 Quote

Much more fun to get to attack the coaches for a loss than credit them when we win. As it was, his view was that we'd score and stop them. McD was right this time. That's the only fact that exists now If you were tasked with putting odds on the two scenarios: 1) Bills have 3 attempts to get 1.5 yards (at worst) 2) Jaguars get 1 minute to get into field goal position with a kicker who can go 68 yards Play the game 100 times. Which one do you think has a higher odds of happening? Feel free to include penalty risk, turnover risk in the first scenario obviously Edited January 11 by Fetou 1 Quote

Especially when both of their lines totally dominated us the entire game. We were very fortunate to even be down there. You score asap. 3 Quote

Buffalo Ballin Posted January 11 Posted January 11 We HAVE to rely on our defense to do their jobs, too. They're not absolved from that. What JUST happened today is a huge morale confidence booster for the defensive side of the ball. They needed that massive morale boost just like how Josh Allen did the 10 yards tush push. Massive boost. No game is perfect. No situation is perfect. The refs was against us today. And you guys, too????? Quote
The Wiz Posted January 11 Posted January 11 6 minutes ago, SoCal Deek said: I agree. There’s very little point in scoring on the first down. You’d still have three cracks at it from the one yard line and would’ve run the clock down to almost nothing. The only difference is they know they dont have any timeout left and are just trying to hurt you and strip the ball at that point. I dont like Brady calling the "just get the TD" run and McD being ok with it. These types of games will bit them later when they cant do those things. 1 1 Quote
Max Fischer Posted January 11 Posted January 11 In that situation, you take the points every time. It is far too risky to lose the ball, something weird happens, there's a penalty, etc. It's not like a field goal where you can kneel the ball. 1 1 Quote

Einstein Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I thought about this for a while. I see both sides. That being said, I think McD made the right decision. 1 procedural penalty and you’re at the 5. One hold and you’re at the 10. The score is not guaranteed. 1 5 Quote

Brandon Posted January 11 Posted January 11 (edited) 3 minutes ago, ***** said: This what what I meant with a “feel for the game “ we had done the tush push a few times and it worked flawlessly. So in 3 more attempts it’s perfectly reasonable to expect similar success, again with 3 attempts It had been working, but that doesn't mean it would continue, especially with Allen dealing with foot and knee issues. And what if you kneel down and then get a penalty on 2nd down? Now, you lose the easy option entirely and have three shots instead of four. Edited January 11 by Brandon Quote

GunnerBill Posted January 11 Posted January 11 3 minutes ago, QB Bills said: You lose one yard at most. Then you have 3 downs to get two yards. There's no real argument here. It was an egregious mistake that they got away with. I am never losing a yard there. A sneak from 1 is automatic. Say you lose a yard then you get a false start (and they are reffing those much closer now)? No. Playing to lose a yard there would have been stupid. If you could find a way to move forward and then stop still short, sure, that was the play. But you don't risk the lost yardage in that situation ever. 1 Quote
Tierlifer Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Take the points as Bill Parcells made a living off of that mantra Quote

If you fail scenario 2, the game is tied. These aren’t equivalent outcomes. Quote
Buffalo Ballin Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Always take the points! Always, no matter what. On the score board, it's all about who is up on points. It's not about "taking a knee to eat clock" that shows up on the final results. Quote
