The Jokeman Posted January 11 Posted January 11 It's called momentum, scoring on the first play keeps momentum on our side. 1 1 Quote
ToGoGo Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I get why they did it. It was a hard fought game. Take the points and trust your special teams and defense. Both delivered. McDermott is a faith based coach. This was a faith based decision. Very key thing to know about him. 3 Quote

Really good offense held to 24 points at home in the playoffs. Scoreboard. 1 Quote
Fetou Posted January 11 Posted January 11 If we had one broken coverage and it goes to OT and we lose, everyone in this thread defending the decision would be calling for McDermott to be fired for it 2 Quote
notpolian Posted January 11 Posted January 11 It's a lot different down 4 vs down 3. Penalties, fumbles, a little can go wrong when you need aTD. They did the right thing. 1 Quote
Neo Posted January 11 Posted January 11 (edited) Take the TD. You’d played 59 minutes and scored two. Edited January 11 by Neo 1 1 Quote
The Wiz Posted January 11 Posted January 11 run the ball and fall at the 1 or 1/2 yard line. Kill the clock a bit. That should have been the call. I like the results but you knew that McD wanted it to come down to defense. He always does. 1 2 1 Quote
SirAndrew Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Just now, T.E. said: They've lost multiple playoff games by prioritizing the clock over the TD. He finally learned his lesson, and it's the reason we won. This has been my biggest McD critique. It actually shows he learned, yet people are saying he’s leaned nothing. We put ourselves into spots against KC where we had only one chance. 2 Quote
Yockopondowsk Posted January 11 Posted January 11 We took what they gave us all game They gave us the td. You had to get the points. Else it would have been Sean’s job. Quote

Can you imagine if they took a knee on 1st down and then couldn't punch it in on 4th down? Some of these people are confusing reality with Madden. 3 1 2 Quote
jcamm1966 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 fumble on snap . false start , people would revolt, take the points leave nothing to chance 2 2 2 Quote

And they would have done the same on second down. Jags were totally screwed in that situation. McD got snookered and it could have cost us the game. Lucky as hell. Your post is negligent. 1 Quote
Steptide Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Personally I was torn on what to do there. Imagine if they kneel it out and then go for the tush push and get stopped short. People would be yelling that we had 3 times outs left and shoulda taken the points. Ultimately I think it was the right thing to do, even if Lawrence doesn't throw the interception at the end. Always easy to say after a win tho. Let's f ING go! Quote
agilen Posted January 11 Posted January 11 7 minutes ago, Ethan in Cleveland said: You dont have to lose yards taking a knee. Just fall forward. Burn 40 sec of clock and you still have 3 chances from less than a yard He did just fall forward. Into the end zone…. JAX was right to let us score there. No coaching blunders on either side, Lawrence just didn’t get it done and Josh did! 2 1 Quote
gonzo1105 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Bonehead decision but they won. It would have been questioned a lot though if Little kicks a tying FG and they lose in OT 3 Quote
Virgil Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Interesting to post this so quickly after the win. I agree that it’s debatable, but this just feels like poor timing. Enjoy the win and change your name 2 Quote
TBBills Fan Posted January 11 Posted January 11 We won, the Defense finished the job. With how the game was going, with all the circumstances, I'd want to not score on the first play. Then you run the clock down and end the game with your offense having 3 chances from the 1 yard line The jags were moving the ball well and had a minute. Thankfully trevor is no Josh Allen and our opportunistic D sealed it. Honestly, it was just our day to win. We earned that ***** That said, the analytics would have to say milk the clock in that situation and is probably the smartest decision if you look at from analytics 1 Quote
JMM Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I'm not gonna lie in hindsight, I felt they should have done that as well on the first down. D is not be trusted. Still... Quote
Big Blitz Posted January 11 Posted January 11 There was no “wrong” call I get it. We could fumble, a penalty, and there would be zero forgiving not scoring. It was a choice it worked McD was awesome today. 3 Quote
Kelly to Allen Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Ging backwards and purposely not scoring a TD there is a firebale offense 4 1 Quote
