Andy1 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Well, it’s still a crapshoot, especially on the QBs since there are lots of them selected in the first round that aren’t in the playoffs. It’s just that if you want a decent chance of finding a starter, you need to select a first round talent prospect and then hope they grow and develop into a playoff caliber QB. I think 24 of 32 starters this year are first round picks. Then there are also a bunch that were selected in the 1st round that aren’t even starters. 2 1 Quote

Take it a step further. 25 teams won at least 6 games. 21 of them have a 1st round QB. The Saints & Eagles have a 2nd rounder. Dallas and SF are the outliers. Pretty much the entire league has 1st round QBs now. There used to be a bunch of guys that weren’t but those days are gone. You can’t compete without talent at that position. 3 1 Quote

And if you add the missing super stars Mahomes, Lamar, Burrow (all 1st round picks) the emphasis on getting it right in the 1st round becomes even bigger. First round QB picks have the best chance for success, agreed. Around 64% of first round QB picks are busts. Quote
