Warriorspikes51 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 (edited) I believe we MAY...emphasis MAY....be purposefully withholding a decent portion of the playbook. What are your ideas for the playoffs? I'd like to see: More Anderson & Hawes heavy OL (Pitt Game) Abandon bubble screens to Shakir Screens to Cook & Ty Johnson (Lions, Rams, Ravens Games huge chunk plays come to mind) Curtis Samuel if he is healthy....had 2 TDs in last years playoffs Josh Allen power run game.....if Allen has 10-15 carries & Cook has 25 carries we can beat anyone Shavers intermediate targets Shakir targeted BEYOND 3 yards Cooks deep targets No huddle drive with quick passing game. Josh needs to get the ball out faster against good DL's Kincaid being healthy is paramount to victory. Let's hope he is. 3 TE sets are gold for this team IMO. Exotic DL stunts, blitz packages. Soft zone on 3rd down is not how to win. Press man coverage. Be extremely physical with WR's until it gets flagged. Teams do this to us and it's not called. Shaq Thompson over Bernard. Milano blitzing. Has flashed at times and is a hammer when he gets there. Dorian Williams blitz off the edge. Has shown some real power Wild idea: If we defer to start the game, declare an onside kick. The defense has shown almost no ability to stop teams on the first drive of games. They are going to score anyway. Maybe you win an extra possession by the bold risk. Edited January 2 by Warriorspikes51 1 Quote
CEN-CAL17 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I’d like to see them do play action and pass to Gilliam…. A college TE, brought here as a TE and converted for FB 1 1 1 Quote

Billsfed1 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 (edited) I think McDermott looked at how the approach worked last year, and it worked pretty well honestly…a play or two from the final against a great team. Part of what led to that IMO was being on the conservative side with the injuries in terms of holding guys out or length of absence. This year seems to be like last year in that sense…getting guys back at the end of the season for a playoff push. I also believe they’ve sat on a lot of the playbook defensively. The defense hasn’t shown a lot of creativity week to week, gotta believe they’ve left some rounds in the chamber there. I’m sure they’ve withheld some of the playbook for the offense too, but with the injuries…this is why i’m not afraid of a team like Baltimore. Certain teams like them and the Patriots are trending in the wrong direction as were rounding into the playoffs, where the Bills should get a bunch of guys back at the right time. Some reinforcements with new wrinkles schematically should make Buffalo dangerous at this time of year. Edited January 2 by Billsfed1 Quote

1billsnut Posted January 2 Posted January 2 If we really want to trick them we could run a WR screen to Shakir. 🤔 1 1 5 Quote

However, he doesn't show up on the stat sheet so plenty of people here will want him or predict he will be cut in TC. The phrase "Use Hawes in an H-back role" will be tossed around like the "Cordy Glenn to guard" was years ago. That said, I would love to see Reg get a few carries this week, maybe even a TD. Guy really earned it. Edited January 2 by BuffaloBillyG 1 Quote
zow2 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I don't know if we're holding back a whole lot... but for some reason I feel like the defense will ball out in the playoff game(s), while I'm kinda' concerned about the offense. Quote

Miyagi-Do Karate Posted January 2 Posted January 2 We flashed this a few games back, but I am sure we will see a lot more of it: cook and Ty/Ray in the backfield at the same time. Quote

iccrewman112 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I’d like to see a fake screen pump to Shakir and hit cooks streaking down the sideline after he fakes the block on the screen. THEY HAVE BEEN SETTING IT UP FOR 17 GAMES!!! 1 1 Quote

I thought the original rule was ridiculous. This rule is still wrong IMO. If a team wants to take a shot at a 10% chance to get the ball back then let them do it. Quote
RiotAct Posted January 3 Posted January 3 spoiler alert: we aren’t withholding a “decent portion of the playbook”. 1 2 Quote
dpberr Posted January 3 Posted January 3 My contribution: Offense: A bunch of triple option plays. The Bills have every piece of Osborne's Triple Option in place. Defense: Disguise Cover Zero with everyone standing up, sometimes run it, other times, disguise it and drop them back. Quote

Let him take big hits if he’s comfortable enough to do so and unleash him in the run game as you mentioned. Combined with Cook and some timely 3rd down passes, I think the Bills can physically wear down their opponents. This is probably the last few years of prime PHYSICAL Josh. I want to see the hurdling stiff arming maniac trucking the hell out out of LBs. The Josh Allen that took the league by storm in the early 2020s. Edited January 3 by ChronicAndKnuckles 1 Quote
