Nothing to even do with any of that...he simply doesn't want to be in the NFL.

I always hate that they give the player of the game to the Quarterback. I get it and there aren't many great candidates but I'd have given it to Charlie Becker. He made some incredibly clutch catches at critical times tonight. The stat line didn't show it but the eyeball test told me Becker should have been the guy.

Im not advocating for Cignetti, just commenting on this game, what he has done is just unbelievable.   So much about college football is about recruiting, not that all the guys are geniuses.  How many 5 star and even 4 star recruits on that team?   Now thats a truly great coaching run of a season.   Never would have guessed Indiana would win a national championship in football ever until this year.  Great story.  Cignetti seems like he's going to be a meme machine also.

Yeah tough game to decide in MVP 

 

Could have given it to the Indiana wide receiver room who made some big catches in big moments 

 

All year they've been a back shoulder fade team relying on great catches and nobody's been able to stop it

Question for you college rules hawks: After the final IU interception, the DB ran into his own endzone. Why was that not a safety?  Did he take a knee before that?

They have a lot more talent than they are given credit for. First they are an incredibly old football team. A lot of 23,24, and 25 year olds on that Indiana team. They have the # 1 pick in the draft, they have 4 WR's that will be drafted either now or in the future, they have a tackle thats going in the top 4 rounds and a draftable guard. They also have at least 3 draft picks on their defense. Its a pretty talented roster despite the rankings.

Yes he was down. Player doesn't have to be touched at the college level.

I think maybe three wide receivers draftable.. probably second to fourth round range .. including Becker who's not draft eligible

 

Compare that to Ohio State who has wide receiver core loaded with top and draft picks all the time.. tony on Miami is more talented then any Indiana wide receiver and he's a freshman

 

Their guys are old battle tested and tough which pays dividends

 

They do have a bunch of mid-round guys who have shot up the draft boards because of looking good in cigs system 

 

But most of the national champions have had a lot of top draft picks... 3 4 5 first round picks.. with a bunch of second third fourth round picks 

 

Indiana still doesn't have that 

 

I think they might have outside of Mendoza 6 or 7 guys who will go between rounds 2 and 5

I agree it could be 3, I think E.J. Williams has a shot to be drafted late. 6'4 200 pound guy, who finally did something his last year as a piece. If he does get drafted i'd expect it to be late but someone could be intrigued by the guy late.

True.. that's a flyer guy in the 6th or 7th got to see what he runs at the combine

Heck, yeah.  They got Ohio State having 5 guys in drafteks top 40.   Amazing what Indiana did.

I like having a second screen running live stats, so I’ve been pulling up the official page to keep an eye on player ratings and xG while watching the bigger matchups. It’s been handy for seeing who’s actually cooking versus who just looks good on TV, especially during the tighter playoff races.
