Two Nights Playing With Fire At Patrick Mahomes And Travis Kelce's Steakhouse | Defector

Quote

Ultimately, 1587 Prime is a parched vision of luxury, simultaneously overreliant on ChatGPT-grade luxury tropes, rehashed ideas from its outside restaurant group, and lazy local outsourcing for stations that a top-tier restaurant should staff. I don’t know that it matters. Even now, four months from opening, reservations nearly always show as fully booked. (That said, I put my name on the waitlist on four different occasions while working on this review, and was alerted about an open table all four times.) The restaurant seems to be getting by with the help of a core of jet-setting Noble 33 superfans—who are you? Why?—and a rotating cast of first-time visitors: Chiefs fans, Swifties, curious Kansas Citians.

I bet Russel's or the Chop House is better.

Duhhh lol serious question though.... has any athlete restaurant ever been known for good food?

Theyre competing in a market that has top 3 BBQ in the nation! Im sure a ton of hard-core Chiefs fans will go once. But dang so much killer food, how long will the novelty last; spending more money for lower quality food.

I bet they pee in the sinks there.

I’m not much into steakhouses (overpriced and the wife says we make better at home), and I hate the idea of going somewhere because it has the name of someone famous on it. I’m looking for a place known for great food, not a well recognized name.

“those 31 Papa John’s franchises Peyton Manning coincidentally shed two days before the NFL dropped the pizza chain as a sponsor”

Yeah, coincidence.

I am reminded of Sartre’s No Exit.  Hell is other people if they’re at a restaurant to be seen, and not to eat.

The review, by the way, cuts like a light saber in the hands of a Jedi Master.   Words are weapons, sharper than knives.

Michael Jordan had a steakhouse in Grand Central Station, NYC, and it was high quality. Great steak and onion rings.

A steakhouse named and owned by NFL stars...bad?? Next you'll tell me their car dealerships don’t offer slam dunk deals.

Wouldn’t they have to be NBA stars to offer that?
