I want someone who can make extra points consistently, On fourth and 8 and we need a FG he should be good from 45 yards in, and be able to spot the ball on kickoffs reasonably well. I don't need a guy with a big leg who's inconsistent.

Gay makes a lot of sense to be honest. It seems they would prefer to go the veteran route versus taking a chance on a guy who hasn't kicked in live games much or a young inconsistent guy like Parker Romo.

Agree.  He was terrible early this year, but at least he's been around the block and won a Super Bowl. This is the route I'd go for a week or two.

Totally agree. Probably a no brainer to add him.

Only issue is that he's been more of a warm weather and dome kicker for most of his career.  Struggled in Washington this year.  I'm curious as to his home vs. away splits and how he's kicked in weather/wind.

 

Edit: looked it up and there's nothing that particularly stands out as being an issue.

I hate to say this out loud, but I have been nervous about Prater anyway. Those missed PATs and he hasn’t really had to attempt any really hard kicks.

I like Josh Karty off the Rams practice squad since he gives you a high upside, younger guy who could replace Bass as well. But yeah if its a stop gap vet, Gay, Tucker, make sense.
