TheyCallMeAndy Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Does this re-set how long he has to wait for the HoF again? (If he gets in). Quote

Yes it does 48 minutes ago, Bleeding Bills Blue said: I assume Rypien gets the start, but you do need at least a backup. Probably a quick hook, and probably with the potential to re-enter the game if Rivers looks unprepared. None of Jones, Richardson, or Leonard are healthy so I'm not sure what else there is to do. Rivers isn’t coming back to be a backup to Brett Rypien. He will be starting Sunday Quote

I was thinking the same: start Rypien, but dress Rivers as backup. Colts could still get in with 6 losses, so maybe this week is a write off. Quote
dpberr Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago This caught my attention yesterday because there have been players like TO, for example, who stayed in great shape and expressed interest in returning to the NFL, yet no team took them up on the offer. I can’t imagine what it must feel like to take a hit in an NFL game after being away from the field for so long. Quote

He can hang with the guys on some road trips. Interesting that if/when Rivers gets signed to the active roster the HOF clock resets for 5 more years until eligibility. Being on the practice squad doesn't mess with being eligible soon. Quote

thronethinker Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Remember River's Last playoff game, I do.. He almost won. Quote

I find it very plausible that a former elite athlete has kept in damn good shape since retirement. He also essentially has endless assets compared to most of us. I'm sure he's eating well. Its not like hes going to be running a bunch of QB runs. His job is to hand the ball off and stand in the pocket. He's a HOF player and knows what to do. I think this will go better than people think I think it was Jaxson Dart that said he worked out with Rivers recently and he could still sling it. The colts aren't stupid. If Rivers showed up and they thought the couldn't do it, he wouldnt have been offered a contract You are right, I do know know what River's workout regime looks like, and I do not know the details of NFL conditioning programs. But I do see another former NFL QB of a similar vintage at my gym most days. He's not doing anything different than any of us other 40-somethings; just doing his own thing to stay in shape. I can't imagine Josh Allen or Aaron Rogers does anything in the gym without the eyes of a very experienced trainer with a very prescriptive program to get them through at 60-minute NFL game each week. BillsfaninSB Posted 52 minutes ago Posted 52 minutes ago That Sauce Gardiner trade is looking really bad right now. Quote
